《 1 》𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆

"YOU SURE YOU have everything?" My mom asks from the passenger seat.

"I am pretty sure I'm all packed."

"Yes, but honey, are you positive?" I can tell my mom's more stressed about all this than I am.

"If Sky forgot anything, I could always just drop it off." My dad ensures my mom.

"Oh alright," My mom's excitement is radiating off of her.

Dad pulls the car out of the driveway, causing my nerves to shoot up.
This whole past summer I've spent preparing for this very moment. When I'll be leaving my parents and going off to my dream college. NYU in the big city.
Sure it's two hours away from my old town. But it's worth it.

At least the long two-hour car ride gives me time to think over everything and calm my nerves.
This is good for me. I need to step out of my comfort zone.

WE ARRIVE at Greenwich Village. My adrenaline spikes. Well, this is it.
The building looks large and intimidating.
Everything looks just like the photos online.
My parents follow behind me carrying a handful of moving boxes.
Getting signed in was nice and fast.

The nice blonde lady at the administration office gave me my schedule for all my classes and a room key.
My room is located in the residence hall.

"Well, this is it!" My mom says cheerfully, "My son, the college student!" She places the boxes down near the dorm door.

I unlock the door, pushing it open.
It's quite big on the inside. With two twin beds on each side of the room. Two desks and two closets.
Half the side of the room is decorated with a moon tapestry and girly posters with quotes.
A girl sits atop her bed covered in a pink blanket. She shoots up to her feet.

"Hii, I'm Sarah." The girl wraps her arms around me, pulling me into an embrace.
I'm overwhelmed by the smell of Victoria's Secret perfume, vanilla I think?

"I'm Sky and these are my parents."

"Your son will love it here, I'm a second year." Sarah turns to my parents.

"Thank you, dear." My mother smiles warmly, in the way that only a mother could.

"Well, we should let you get settled in." My dad takes my mother's hand.

"We'll call you later?"

"Definitely." I wrap my arms around my mom, squeezing tight.
I know this is hard for her, at least she'll have my younger sister to take care of.

"I love you so much."

"Love you too, mom."

"I should get going before I begin crying." My mom pats a tissue to her eye.

My dad takes her hand and leads her out. Leaving me to my new roommate.

I turn back around to face Sarah. Taking in her full appearance.
She has long luscious glowing blonde hair that stands out from her fair skin tone.
Her eyes are as blue as the ocean.
She looks like a modern valley girl with an hourglass figure which is noticeable by the black crop top she's wearing.
She at least 5,5. Her black ripped jeans make her look slightly taller.

She looks like a doppelganger of Cher from Clueless.
She'd definitely be popular if she'd attended my old school.
Her lips are coated with a pink shiny lip gloss smear.
She's actually quite attractive.

"Your parents seem so nice."

"Yeah, they're cool." I pick up my box and set it down atop my bed.

"You'll totally fit in around here. Just stick with me."

"Thanks," I smile.

"Oh and don't worry, we were all once nervous first years too."

"Is it that obvious?" I nervously laugh as I sit down on the edge of my bed.

"Yeah a little, Your hands are kinda shaking."

Embarrassed I realize it. So I quickly rest my hands atop my thighs.

"Trust me you'll be alright." Sarah smiles. Suddenly her phone begins blasting Miss Movin' On by Fifth Harmony.
"Shoot that's right. I have to meet up with my friends. You can totally come if you want."

"Thanks, but I should really get settled in."

"Sure?" Sarah says while sliding into her green coat.

"Maybe next time."

"I probably won't be back till late. So lock up, I have a key."

Sarah heads out the door shutting it behind her.

Well, this is it. "This is finally it!" I relish in my newfound freedom.
Sure it's just a college dorm. But it's a start.
I take the rest of the day to unpack and explore the campus. Since tomorrow I'll be officially starting my first day of college courses.
