Rain flooded the deck, barrels rolled away, Jonathan who came back started to stumble with each step. "Where is your captain, we need to set up or we will die." Jonathan looked to me before thunder boomed and echoed into the now dark sky. He lost his footing slamming down, his body rolled down. "Let me out! Before we all die. Is there not anyone else on this ship?"
"I cannot die lady; you can't kill what is already condemned." From his facial expression, I could see the sincerity etched across his face.
"I love the enthusiasm, thinking you're untouchable and all, but what about me?" I shouted to him; the wind was picking up now. Jonathan pushed up his knees buckling as he steadied himself.
"Give me a moment lady." He tried moving, the storm making each step a task. He slowly made his way to me and then grabbed at the rope holding me captive. He used the rope as leverage, the waves now splashed the deck.
"You'll need a knife." His dark eyes met mine and he nodded his head. He reached near his back and pulled out a small pocket blade. He began slicing through the material. There was hesitation as the ship rocked with the storm. "What kind of captain sleeps through something like this?"
"The kind who don't fear death I reckon." His shouting was drowned out by the storm.
I felt the ropes fall and freedom come for me. I Rushed to stir the ship. "I don't take it you know what you're doing?" Jonathan looked amazed by how I turned the wheel.
"No lady, unfortunately I was never taught such a thing." A loud bang and salt water rushed to the surface, flooding the ship now. How the captain slept was beyond me. Sleeping down below would kill him and I did not care. He was a pirate, one who wanted to force me into some marriage agreement. The weight of the wheel pulled me and I was mere seconds from falling over.
The ship rocked and then the sky went black. "What's happening!?" I looked to Jonathan who was stunned. The black turned a deep color of purple and the ship came to a stop, almost as if time had frozen. A ship paved its way up to this one and I froze. "Shit." It was Mascows ship, but how had he caught up?
"No. no, no, no." Jonathan took off towards the bottom of the ship. My guess was to retrieve captain Tully. I went to run, unsure of where I could run off too. A hand grabbed mine and turned me back around.
"Miss me?" His grin reached both sides of his face.
"Not even slightly." I swung at his face making sure I made the punch count. I kicked his gut and then sauntered off running. I watched from the corner of my eye as pirates from Moscow's ship boarded this one. I continued running until I hit what felt like a rock.
"Going somewhere?" Tully's yellow teeth stood out against the darkness. I backed away and backed right into Moscow's arms.
"That hurt you know." He looked down to me smiling, not a single drop of blood or sign that I just punched his nose.
"But how is that possible?" I reached up to touch his face and he shoved me behind him. Immediately wielding a sword at Tully.
"Did you really think you could get away with stealing one of my prized possessions Tully?" He still smirked as did Tully. Tully had his sword drawn as well, they both stared for a moment.
"A prize you say. That why she was in your cellar Mascow?" The sound of sword against sword came as Tully struck first. Silver against silver, over and over. I was shocked, not shocked enough to not try for an escape. I ran to Moscow's ship hoping everyone had been off of it.
Water splashed at my ankles and now bare feet as I padded down the ship. Great, I'll need to jump. I backed up and then went to launch, slipping on liquid and wiping out on the old wooden floors of Tully's ship. Leave it to me and my lack of coordination. I stood up and tried once more.
My legs carried itself with the wind and I landed with a hard "thunk" onto Mascow's ship. I immediately ran to the wheel. I made it and began to turn it. "Going somewhere my lady?" I jumped, startled by the voice.
" I want to go home, you can't expect me not to at least try." I moved back as Mascow came forward. He held a white cloth to his sword. Jewels lined the hilt. My eyes trailed up to where he was cleaning. Blood. It was blood he was wiping away. "Did you kill him?"
"That's a hard question to answer." He placed his sword back into its sheath at his side and my heart pounded. His eyes were a different color, a shade of amber. I blinked and the illusion faded as his eyes went back to their baby blue.
"I doubt it's that difficult, either he his dead or alive." He made his way inches from my face, I flinched as he reached a hand up. He pushed aside a piece of my hair and tucked it behind my ear.
"You will be staying with me, in my cabin for now on. Until we make it to the trove of gold." He held out his hand for me to take and I shoved it away.
"I can walk myself thank you very much." I walked around him and waited for him to lead the way. His eyes held mine the entire time.
"perhaps you will consider thanking me for saving your life?" His eyes twinkles in the moonlight.
"Perhaps not." He walked ahead of me laughing and my stomach lurched. He lead the way and I had no choice but to follow and I knew that.
His cabin was quite more than a cabin. The walls were nothing but book shelves, a king sized bed with satin red sheets and a plush red blanket sat in the room. A personal potting chamber and an old table made of what looked to be oak, held delicacies of food and drink. The carpet was a deep red and two windows showed the bottom of the ship, fish swam by in the glass.
"For someone who likes to talk, you're quite speechless my lady." He sat at the oak table kicking his boots off and grabbing a purple grape. He chucked it into his mouth and offered me some. I shook my head, more so because I did not like the taste of purple grapes. He shrugged "Suite yourself."
"Where will I be sleeping?" I looked around, maybe the floor. Even the floor was better than that cell and that post.
"My bed of course, can't have a lady sleeping on the floor, wouldn't be too polite of me would it?" He winked and took a drink of what I knew had to be rum.
" I will not lie with you." He took off his long coat revealing a loose white shirt. He crossed his arms around his chest and leaned back.
"Do you really expect me to lie on the floor? My men would make fun of me for such silliness." He smiled and I swallowed a lump in my throat. "Have you not laid down with a man before Alessia?" The way he said my name made my stomach flutter and like usual I shoved the feeling away.
"Sorry if I do not wish to share the bed of a stranger." I stood in the middle of the room unsure if I should sit or stand or what to do.
His smile grew and he sat up. " The bathing chamber is through that door if you wish to clean up, in the mean time I will be checking on my men. In case you have any crazy ideas about escaping, I have you know that I will be locking this door." He grabbed his drink and walked towards the exit. "Oh and I know you can pick a lock, most pirates can and in that case I do have a guard outside this door. Clean clothes are in that top drawer, I will be back later." I looked to where he pointed at a cherry wood dresser and stood there speechless as he left.
