Chapter 38 Uh....Foxfire Again (Next Day)

Sophie was making her way to her locker to put her stuff away when Magnate Leto walked up to her.

"Shouldn't you be in the Silver Tower for your linguistics session right now?" Magnate Leto asked. "Lady-er-Master Cadence is complaining about you being late..."

"It's that late already?!" Sophie asked. Magnate Leto nodded. Sophie sighed as she started running to the Silver Tower.

"Ms. Foster, can you be on time for once?" Master Cadence asked.

"Sorry, my Elvin History class was extended a bit longer to finish the lesson..." Sophie mumbled. Master Cadence nodded.

"Let's make sure that it doesn't happen again" Master Cadence sighed. Sophie nodded back at her.

"May I ask why you are early?" Tiegran asked as Sophie entered the telepathy room.

"My linguistics session ended early..."

"Ah okay, now all we have to do is wait for Mr. Vacker,"

Sophie froze. She had forgotten that she had a session with Fitz.

"Shoot why why why why?! Is it too late to fake a headache?" Sophie thought.

"Everything alright Ms. Foster?" Tiegran asked. Sophie nodded. "Everything is fine" she assured.

"Okay, maybe...no nevermind..." Tiegran whispered to himself. Sophie raised an eyebrow but didn't comment.

Fitz walked in. Breathing became hard for Sophie as she took a seat. Fitz sat across from her. Sophie avoided eye contact.

"I will be right back," Tiegran said as he left the room. Fitz and Sophie sighed.

"So?" Fitz asked. Sophie didn't answer him. "C'mon! If we're gonna do telepathy trust exercises then we'll need to actually trust each other!"

"How can I trust you after what you did?" Sophie snapped.

"Well..." Fitz began. "How about we forge-"

"How can I forget about that?!" Sophie raised her voice. Fitz mumbled under his breath. Tiegran walked back in and both Fitz and Sophie sat straight in their chairs.

"Sorry to be gone so long, are you both ready to start?" Tiegran asked. They both nodded, although Sophie was forcing herself to nod. Tiegran nodded back. "Then today's exercise is to share four secrets that you haven't told anyone."

Sophie? Fitz transmitted.

Ugh, what? Sophie transmitted back.

I-fineeee....I almost burned down the kitchen at Everglen while my parents and Biana weren't home

Okay-uh..I don't really have any secrets...

Oh right you tell everyone everything now-especially Keefe and your parents

Sophie winced at the annoyance in Fitz's voice but tired to forget about it.

That's not true, Fitz. I keep some things to myself.

I've still been searching for stuff that Jolie might have left behind at Havenfield that connect to the Black Swan...

I do it when no one is home...and since Edaline and Grady are okay with me going in Jolie's room now I have no problem doing it but I still prefer them not knowing...

After they each shared four secrets, they noticed that they were late to Study Hall-very late.

"Don't worry, I told Magnate Leto you would be late," Tiegran said. Sophie let out a sigh of relief as she ran out. She was glad that was over.
