"Easy there Elijah" I laughed out as I tried to hold back but having no such luck. He was a mess. Elijah had icing all over his face and a few bits in his hair, the rest of the spices laid out all over the counter around him. He may have made a mess but the cake had looked absolutely fine- and I was partly glad I didn't have to necessarily bake this one because otherwise this would have been even messier. "Hahaha this... This is to funny"

"Don't laugh at me" Elijah pouted playfully, crossing his arms over his chest as he gave me a pitiful pout, sticking his bottom lip out. That just made it even cuter "its not that bad"

"You're cake is bellisimo kid, hahaha" I started as I went to grab my phone. Ember was going to love this. Unlocking it I pulled up the camera and quickly snapped a picture before sending it to her "Its the best but you've haha you've made such a mess, it's all in your hair"

"It's not my fault it's so messy" Elijah said as he stuck his tongue out at me. I laughed even harder as I made my way towards him, looking at the mix of coco powder, sugar and creams that laid across the counter as well as the various bowls and whisks that sat around him. Oh this was going to be fun to clean but seeing him have so much fun and knowing this was for Ember it was all worth it. I held up my hands as I shook my head, a smile on my face.

"I'm not saying that. Why don't you go take a shower and get ready for bed alright, I'm going to clean this up and put the cake in the fridge until she comes home" I said. Elijah sighed a bit as he pouted, giving me puppy dog eyes as he did, and it almost looked pitiful. At one point in time I would have fallen for this but after a while I knew better. Besides, after we had gotten home from the store Elijah and I had watched his movie and ate, and seeing it was Friday he had no homework. Since Elijah wanted to help make the cake he had been lucky to stay up past his bed time to finish it. I had to admit his cake looked really good for his age, of course their were some areas I had to fix and smooth out, and a few bowls I had to make sure were mixed but other then that it was great. He had looked so proud of himself as he had done it too. Taking off his apron he yawned as he stepped off the stool and began to walk towards the bathroom. I knew he was trying to fight off sleep, he resisted as hard as he could because he wanted to stay up and surprise Ember but he wouldn't last much longer. Taking a napkin I began to wipe up all the cream and cheese and dust he had gotten everywhere, throwing those in the trashcan, before grabbing the bowl and rinsing them out in the sink before actually washing them as I heard the shower turned on. Finishing up the last bowl I heard my phone go off. Setting the bowl in the strainer I dried off my hands and walked over seeing a message from Ember. I grinned as I opened it.

MiaBella: awwww, that is so cute, I love it. Sorry, long shift, I'll be home soon. Thank you for watching him. And yes, I do, I'd like that. We'll talk more when I get back.

Yes I thought. I was finally getting somewhere with her and their was nothing stopping me from doing so now. No work, no kids, no nothing. Just me and Ember for a few days and I had a plan. Ember had always talked about her visits to St. Augustine and how long as it had been so I figured that I would take my private jet down there to spend the entire weekend to ourselves. A nice hotel on the beach, a whole day exploring an old historical city. We could have a nice romantic dinner, cuddle up even, and I was looking forwards to that again. Having her in my arms was the best thing in the world, she fit perfectly, and having her lay on top of me or next to me with my arms around her was heaven. It felt like I could keep her safe. Walking over the table I made sure everything Elijah wanted left out for her was nice and neat. In the center of the counter were the roses in a beautiful red vase as the balloons had been tied to the neck of the vase. In front of it was the stuffed dog he had gotten, as well as a bag of sourpatch watermelon candies and a birthday card. Tucked up inside that card was a drawing he made just for her since I wasn't allowed to see it because it was special. Once it was neat I had heard the shower turn off. Making my way down the hall I had made it to the bathroom just when the door opened and Elijah stepped out, wearing only a pair of pajama pants and gray t shirt, his hair wet as it stuck to his skin. I smiled softly as I picked him up, setting him on my hip, and began to walk to his room down at the end of the hall. Behind me I could hear the patter of heavy paws and collar as Elijah held onto my shoulders. Peering behind me I saw Cosmos turn into Embers room as he nudge the door open and disappeared.
