~~~Jake's P.O.V.~~~
I was with Avery the majority of the day and the more I was with her, the more i started to like her. Only as a friend! Right? I don't know! I've never cared about a girl like this before. Usually girls are just something I find annoying when they try to throw themselves at me. But not Avery, she's different.When we were almost back to our houses i looked at her, "are your parents home?" Her face noticeably paled. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel feeling that anger return.
"I-I'm not sure" she stuttered and looked really scared. I couldn't take it, I couldn't let her go there. Yesterday after I got off the phone with her friend Jason he had told me her parents and her don't get along but it's nothing serious, which means he doesn't know.
"You wanna come to my place for a little bit? Maybe work on the project?" I ask her hopping she will say yes and be safe from her parents as long as possible.
As soon as the words leave my mouth she says "yes! Er I mean yeah sure" she says sheepishly. I smile at her and then get her crutches for her to walk to my house from her driveway.
I unlock the door and lead her straight up to my room and shut the door. She walks in and sits on my bed gazing around. Her brown eyes looking at every detail and I suddenly feel exposed. I don't let anyone in my room. Ever.
I walk over to her and sit next to her. "Avery, I realized I don't know you very well. Tell me something about yourself." She shifts obviously uncomfortable with talking about herself but I push her to. I want to know about her.
"Not much to tell. I read a lot, I write and love music, that's pretty much it" she answers.
I lay down on my bed and she follows suit laying facing me. "Tell me a secret, you know you can trust me right?" I say hoping she trust me. She nods her head slightly.
"A secret? I like to sing? I don't have much else" she says. That surprises me, not what I was expecting.
"Sing for me?" She shakes her head. "Please?" I stick my bottom lip out as she shakes her head again. "Pretty please with cherries on top?"
She sighs and finally says "okay"
