Walking toward the campfire, you saw Jimin's grip tighten around Jin's shirt collar. "Jimin! What are you doing?"
"He's messing with you. Manipulating you like he does with all of the other girls." Jimin's knuckles turned white. "I don't care if you like him. He doesn't deserve you."
You stepped between Jin and Jimin, separating them. This was your battle, not Jimin's. It was up to you to find out the truth for yourself.
"Is that true?" You asked.
"Of course not! I'd never hurt you like that."
You rolled your eyes. "Really? Then what about all the flirty behavior that suddenly turned to flat out ignoring me? Was all the flirting just a joke? Or was ignoring me just a fun little game?"
Jin's face softened. "Y/N–"
"You know what Jin? I tried to explain what happened. But you wouldn't listen to me." You shook with anger. You choked back a sob.
Better anger than tears, you thought to yourself. You refused to let him see just how much his words affected you.
Jin opened his mouth to speak. You held up your hand.
"Don't. Whatever the truth was, I don't really care anymore."
You rounded on Hoseok. "And you. You told him? After I asked you to keep this between us?"
"I was trying to help." His voice was barely above a whisper.
"I trusted you and you couldn't respect that in the slightest."
Hoseok took a step towards you. You shook your head. A tear rolled down your cheek. Turning around, you ran.
You ran and ran, and you didn't look back.
"Y/N's been gone for hours now. Where could they possibly be?" Jungkook wondered.
"Jin and I just checked up and down the beach." Yoongi shook his head. "Nothing. No sign of them."
"I checked all over the house – every possible hiding spot. They're not in here," Hoseok noted.
No one else had any idea where you might be. It was like you had suddenly fallen off the face of the earth.
Namjoon stood up, pacing the room. His fists were clenched at his sides. "We should be out looking for them," he argued. "Not sitting here all defeated."
Jimin slumped down in his chair. "They're not on the property, so who knows where they are by now."
"Exactly! All the more reason to find them. What if they are hurt or they got in trouble?"
Jin faced Namjoon, arms crossed. "Well where else are we supposed to look? We've checked everywhere. We should just wait until Y/N comes back on their own."
"You know I figured you would want to look for them the most seeing as this is literally your fault," Namjoon sneered.
"My fault?"
"Yeah. If you had just been honest with your feelings in the first place, then this wouldn't have happened."
Jin shoved Namjoon back. Jungkook lunged in between Jin and Namjoon before Jin could get in Namjoon's face.
The screen door opened with a creak and banged shut behind Taehyung. "One of the ATVs is missing."
Jimin cursed under his breath. "They know how dangerous it is to go out on the trails alone." He got up out of his chair to go see for himself. The other boys filed out after him.
Jimin stalked toward the remaining ATVs, preparing them for the ride. He checked the oil levels and filled up each one with gas.
"Bring an extra gas can. I bet they didn't check how full the machine was before they left," Jimin instructed.
Once Jimin finished checking all of the ATVs, he looked at the boys. "One of us has to stay here in case Y/N comes back."
Namjoon glanced at Jin.
"If you think I'm staying behind, then you're dumber than I thought," Jin sneered. "I'm going."
"I'll stay back," Yoongi offered, raising his hand. "I don't mind."
Jimin nodded. "Jungkook, you and Hoseok take one ATV. Namjoon and Taehyung, you're riding together. And Jin, you're with me."
Jimin turned on the ignition and revved the machine to life. He steered the bike down the driveway, heading toward the trails.
