~Dreamland~
It was quiet. A bit more than that, actually. The reason it was quiet was because it was raining.
Kirby was indoors, listening to King DDD moan and groan about how it was raining and boring inside, and Bandana Waddle Dee was practising some new spear moves with Kirby.
The Cappies were all watching the rain miserably from their windows. Some were chatting with family, and some had nothing better to do than just watch the rain droplets from their window.
Sword and Blade were pointlessly patrolling the 'grand' castle estate, arguing over whose sword-skills were better and who could beat the other in a duel.
"I'm telling you! It's me!" Blade protested, but Sword disagreed once more, "Nope. If ya had more skill than yap, then maybe you'd be able to. But nope." Blade trudged on, grumbling, but was back in a cheerful mood within seconds.
The Waddle Dees were making the King's lunch, as well as their own. Waddle Doo was ordering some of them around, of course, nicely, and made sure no one burned themselves near the massive fire-oven.
Sir Pamu and Lady Memu's rooms were empty, as well as the two sassy sibling's ones. King DDD had made them move out after returning from defeating Nightmare. They had been happy to do so, as Lady Memu's relatives lived near the area King DDD was sending them too, but Fumu and Bun had been teary to say goodbye to everyone. (Fumu's tears immediately stopped when King DDD and Escargoon showed up, though)
The animals in Whispy Woods were taking shelter under the great enormous tree, Whispy himself!
I feel like we're forgetting something..
Or rather... someone...?
Ah!
Meta Knight!
Of course.
The head knight of the castle hadn't been seen for three years. King DDD got slightly troubled, so he asked Blade and Sword if Meta Knight was still around. "Yup! Still 'round. Just not seein' anyone lately." Sword had nodded that morning, "Sehr Meta Knight fungin ders, yorj bus." Blade agreed, whilst Sword translated, "Sir Meta Knight's still here, don't worry, your majesty." Sword added to the response and they left.
Indeed, Meta Knight had been absent from all conversations, celebrations, and anything involving two or more people. Why?
He didn't want to hurt anyone.
Ok, ok. You're wondering, 'What...?' or 'How can he hurt anyone by talking or celebrating with people?'
The answer is simple.
The last time he made close friends, they both died. And he witnessed both deaths. One of them he caused unintentionally. And to this day still blames himself for letting them both die.
Those flashbacks always replayed in his mind. 'We must protect the other Star Warriors! The next generations are much more important! What is one life when it can save millions?!' 'T...Tell... my son... I love hi...m...'
Sir Knight didn't want to develop any more friendships. Allies, acquaintances, rivalry and enemies. That was all he wanted. Nothing more.
Kirby had tried to find his mentor countless times, but most resulted in getting stuck up a tree or in a bush... :|
Meta Knight had literally isolated from everyone- including Sword and Blade- and would be in his room most of the time. Reflecting, reading, thinking, etc.
He didn't like the fact he was just sitting there constantly; he felt bored. No, wait, scratch that- he felt lazy. He didn't like laziness. Not one bit.
So getting his mind off laziness, he decided to rebuild something.
Can you guess?

That's right!
The Halberd.
After a couple weeks, he had rebuilt the Halberd- including a couple electronic features as well, but only to try them out to see if they were efficient. If they were just a waste of time and space, he would dispose of them immediately.
~Meanwhile~
"Kirbs...? Do ya think we could use my transporter to get food or somethin' from another planet?" King DDD sat up from his slouching position, fixing his blue-black eyes on the pink puffball.
"Maybe, poy. I don't think we should mess around with it though." Kirby advised, inhaling a spare spear Bandana had lent him to practice fighting.
"Hmm, could we try though? Wouldn't hurt to..." King DDD trailed off, smiling eagerly as the Waddle Dees brought his lunch.
"Thanks, little waddle dees! Make sure to eat too!" he called after them, before he, Kirby and Bandana began eating. He really had a change of heart towards the waddle dees... although he was still a bit harsh with the cappies. But only because they kept blaming Kirby whenever a monster appeared.
'Maybe we could ask Sir Meta Knight. I swear I saw him in his room once. And that was only yesterday. C-'
"Ooh! Great idea Bandana!" Kirby was about to run off, but King DDD lunged forwards, grabbing the small puff by the arm, "Hey! No running in the castle! Wait- no. I m-mean, Kirby we can't just bust into his room, grab 'im and ask stuff. We gotta eat first!" King DDD pointed to the steaming food, which was becoming a degree colder every minute.
"Hehe, yeah, poy. Woops." Kirby snickered, running back and gulping down his food before the King could even get back to his own meal.
Kirby dashed off again, but was caught by King DDD once more, "Wait for us- Escargoon!" he yelled and Escargoon crawled along as fast as he could. "Y-Yes, your majesty?" he quivered, still not used to the fact the King was turning over a new leaf. Slowly, but surely.
"Can ya go get Meta Knight, please?" the King marched back to his throne and looked at the snail. "Uh... sure!" Escargoon froze at the word, 'Please', but quickly snapped out of it and dashed off speedily- surprisingly for a snail.
Bandana Waddle Dee made a happy smile with his eyes and then finished his meal. Kirby stared at Triple D intently as he slowly ate. "Aw, c'mon, poyo! You're taking foreverrr!" "Sometimes you just gotta wait." King DDD laughed, before quickly finishing.
Escargoon came in, panting, "He said he's busy-" "Liar. He ain't busy and we know it." "N-No! I'm not lying!" Escargoon lowered his head and crawled backwards when King DDD got up, "What? Not you! Metal head!" King DDD raised an eyebrow, confused at the snail's behaviour.
"Oh..." Escargoon plastered a smile over his face and went off, whilst Kirby giggled, "He's still afraid of ya, you know." "I know, you pink creampuff." the King snorted when Kirby tried to make an annoyed expression, but only resulted in making a cute angry face.
"Alright, alright. How's about I carry ya both?" King DDD rolled his eyes as Kirby immediately puffed up and landed gently on his head, whilst Bandana made a laughing gesture.
They walked off towards the Knights' Quarters, and Kirby felt so tall on top of King DDD's head, he asked, "What would you guys think if I was king, poy?"
But unfortunately he didn't get an answer because King DDD and Bandana started laughing hysterically, despite Bandana not having a mouth.
