You lean on the railing of your balcony, the white paint begining to slowly flake off from old age. You know that the railing is bound to break eventually yet you lean on it still.
Your eyes are glues to the woods, that figure still on your mind.
Whoever it was had speed, weren't trying to not be seen.

"Dinner,"

The light from the hallway spilled into your room and onto the balcony where you stand. You wait for Noctia to leave so you can have more time in thought. The door never closes,
"Are you not gonna eat?" She asks and walks towards you, her dress shoes thudding against the floor.

You peer over your shoulder "Yeah,"

Noctia watches you, her purple eyes Erie in the dark - a glowing aura surrounding them - sending shivers down your spine.

"I'll eat I'd just like not to be bothered alright."
It's a firm yet nice response, much nicer than what you actually wanted to say but you held your jaw shut.

Noctia said not another word, (for all intent and purposes) vanishing from her spot behind you.
"Finally," you mutter.
Turning around you walk towards the table against the wall. Lifting the plate off of the platter you settle down and begin to eat.

Noctia had told you two days prior to this just to stop thinking about what happened. 'it was just an animal' she told you. Of course that was a lie, she just wanted to make sure you didn't have another excuse to leave the house.
Fair, you had a plan in mind anyway. For the past three days and nights the thought has been plaguing you like a curse.

Hastily you finish up your food, scarfing if down and setting it aside. You were going to have to look for it yourself, - you always heard that if you wanna know something then learn it yourself - there was no other way.

Walking to your shelf you drag your fingers over the spines, grabbing a random book of choice you flip it open and begin to filter through the pages.
Noctia entered the room, not even the slightest bit curious at what tickle your fancy tonight as you smile at the pages unread.
The door swings shut again and her footsteps fade down the hall.

Setting the book aside you stand and kneel at the side of your bed. Lifting the blue sheets to reveal the set of shoes you borrowed from Noctia you pulled them out.
The white leather coated in a fine layer of clay from your day out.
You slide them on, making your way across the room looking for a lantern.

Grabbing it and searching deep within your closet you pull out a box of matches hiding both out of view and waiting for the light under your door to turn out.
Noctia's footsteps stride by, the light underneath the door gone. You listen, her door closing in the distance and the faint sound of her lock.
Grabbing the lantern and pocketing the matches you stand.

The moonlight streams through the window and onto the floor. Opening you balcony door your hit with a light breeze across your skin. The white dress at your feet rippling around your legs.
"Ok, here we go."
Your feet hit the ground, sending a stinging light pain through your legs. It wasn't a flawless execution but it was good enough.
Taking out the matches and lighting the lantern you make your way to the woods.

Crickets chirp all round, quieting the closer you walked. You can hear the sound of wildlife in the distance. The shadows of trees dancing all around you as you creep into the woods, leaves rustling under your feet.
The light of your lantern offers you just enough room to see infront of you but no further.
The clack of bones echo far away, and a faint groan grows near.

You leap, spinning around and wielding your lantern before you. The faint outline of a zombie hobbles your way.
"Hello?" You called.

A groan answered your call and the creature came into view. It's skin was dark green - malnourished - hugging so tight to it's bones that it's skeleton poked through.
As it edged closer, you noticed it's lack of eyes. Black holes in the place they're meant to be.

You let out a shrill scream, turning and hauling it further into the woods. Branches tugging at your hair and vines ripping at the fabric of your dress, tearing it apart.
Blindly, you trip over a root sticking clear out of the dirt. Your lantern flying from your hand and bouncing away.
Your ringing ears fail to pick up the loud groans surrounding you. Chest heaving and eyes watering you crawl your way forward.

You can see them out of your peripheral vision, nearing as you crawl. Beginning to mutter over and over again, you panicked.
A strong hand on your ankle dragging you back.

Your eyes screw shut and you tense, preparing for the worst feeling in the world. The wet tears cold against your skin as the ground moves below you.
There's a thud behind you, the unsheathing of a sword beckoning you to twist around yet you lay still curling into a ball as tightly as you can curl yourself.

You can hear the thud of their bodies as they hit the ground around you one by one until it falls silent.
Uncurling and looking up towards the lantern you can see footsteps making their way around to you.
The ringing in your ears sends your head into a worst frenzy. Your Vision blurs and you fall limp against the ground.
