PS.
School might take over the next two weeks... so I wanted to write something short, though it doesn't progress the story too much.
"...and he didn't even take me to dinner first! So fuckin' rude. Wanted ta strangle him right there."
Alastor had his eyes at half-mast. This isn't what he expected when he offered to take a walk with Angel. He'd tuned out the majority of Angel's story and let his mind wander about other things, such as the breakfast the two had made that morning. They'd never worked so well together. He wondered why Angel had never told him he could cook, especially after the many nights he'd made jambalaya, among other things. Maybe he didn't want to be forced into cooking dinner? Though, that was doubtful, seeing how passionate the spider had gotten earlier.
Alastor's mind trailed back to the smile Angel displayed in the kitchen earlier. That large, handsome, genuine-- hold on. Alastor quickly dismissed his thoughts with a wave of shock and confusion.
Don't worry about it, he thought to himself. I find all smiles charming. There's absolutely nothing selective about Angel.
Today is just ridiculous...
"Hey! Are you even listening to me?" Angel said, snapping at Alastor. The deer's gaze shot quickly from the ground to Angel's face.
"Can you blame me after you spent the last half hour rambling?" Alastor snapped back.
Angel stopped in his tracks, throwing Alastor off guard.
"So that's how it's gonna be," Angel said. "Just as I thought today woulda been different." He crossed his arms and glared at Alastor, who'd stopped a few feet in front of him. Alastor stayed silent, standing his ground.
"You really are just the prick I thought you were," Angel said, hurt but no wavering in his expression. "Ta think you were bein' nice, earlier. I shoulda' just stayed in my room after all."
Alastor peered at him.
"First off," he said. "You're overreacting. Secondly, I have never fancied you. You were stupid to think today would have been 'different.'"
Angel wanted to say something but ultimately decided it'd be best to leave for both sakes. He turned on his heel and started walking back towards the hotel, brows furrowed the entire time.
Alastor shook his head, sighing.
That man has some pent-up anger... that's for certain.
As Angel walked, he cursed under his breath. "If that bitch had just been polite and listened for once, instead a' snappin' back at me like that..."
Soon, he arrived at the hotel, opening the door and walking inside with an unamused expression.
"Hey, Angel! Where's Alastor?" Charlie said. Angel glanced over at Charlie and Vaggie, who were on the floor, organizing paperwork.
"Tsk. The idiot's probably still in the park. Why?" he said.
"Aww, did something ruin your date?" Vaggie teased. It took every ounce of strength Angel had to keep from throwing something at Vaggie. Instead, he took a deep breath.
"Yeah. Alastor's bein' a prick like always," Angel said. Charlie stood up and leaned on a counter. "He didn't hurt you, did he?" she asked. Angel shook his head in response, avoiding eye contact.
"Not physically, no."
Charlie looked back down at Vaggie with a concerned expression. "Do you want to talk about it?" she said, turning her head back towards Angel. He simply grunted and walked off towards his room.
There was a moment of silence until Vaggie broke it. "They even fight like a couple," she said. The two giggled quietly.
