Little doodle of Mexico for Cinco de Mayo.

If you don't mind me saying this, I apologize if this is cringey or weird in some way, haha- I just learned about the history of why Cinco de Mayo really exists here in the USA and I thought it was really cool. :)

Just to clear things up -- if you don't mind me saying this, no, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day. From what I know, it is a celebration in the USA about hope, integrity, and inspiration. 

During the reign of Napoleon III of France in the mid-1800s, Mexico was in debt after 2 wars. They needed to pay some money to Spain, Britain, and France, but they couldn't. Mexico, Spain, and Britain worked it out and agreed to wait a bit longer, but France remained in the country. Napoleon III wanted to have more power around the world and decided to put his brother as emperor in Mexico.

The Mexicans weren't happy with that. Neither was Napoleon III's brother.

Soon, Napoleon III agreed to send down French troops to Mexico in order to establish his brother's authority. In the small town of Puebla, farmers minimally armed with guns, knives, and weapons were prepared to stop the French troops from advancing forward into their capital city, Mexico City.

The French army was known to not have been defeated for 75 years. They had the strongest army the world has ever seen. The Mexicans had no chance against them.

Or did they?

To everyone's surprise, the small town of Puebla was able to defeat the French troops on this day and stop the French from advancing further (for now). 

Cinco de Mayo was known to be a symbol of hope that day forward. No matter how difficult things may be, how overwhelming things may be, never give up. You can do this!! :)

I apologize if I got his design wrong-!! If it's alright, I also added a few more things (like the daggers in the calf-pads and the two-piece helmet that's supposed to combine to make a face-protector) to make him a little more stronk and have more mobility- :'D
