I flail my arms wildly as my notes fly out of my hands. Holy shit! That was an important paper!

Well, I'm just gonna have to redo it, aren't I? Frustrated, I stomp away towards my house.

It's late and dark and the wind is going crazy. Another week of Tracy's crap forced me to go and study in the local library and I lost track of time. And now I have to walk home in this godforsaken weather!

I stash my notes into my bag and hug my coat tighter. The wind is cold and it's hitting my face like a thousand prickly needles. I pick up pace. I need to get home before it starts snowing....I mean what if this is the beginning of the apocalypse?! I don't want to be the first casualty buried under heaps of snow yelling "It's happening!"

As I trudge through the snow, I hear a voice mingled with the howling wind. Is someone....singing? My eyes widen and I realize I've stopped to listen.

It's a familiar song....oh my gods, is that Disney? The voice continues, perfectly in tune.

"The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside..." her voice is magic. But it's getting hushed by the wind and the distance.

" ...Don't let them know....well now they know! Let it go! Let it go! Can't hold it back anymore....let it go let it go ahead and slam the door!"

I strain my ears to listen. It's already started snowing but I'm a sucker for music and I have a strange feeling I've heard this voice before.

"Let the storm rage on....! The cold never bothered me anyway." The song has finished abruptly leaving me standing here on an empty quiet street looking like a complete idiot.

But that was amazing. All a little to mysterious and fictitious but amazing nevertheless. I sigh and look up at the falling snow and grimace at my clothes which are now wet and very cold.

I drag myself home and gratefully open the door to the heated interiors of my house.

All the oldies and cousins were sitting at the table already. I see Tracy snuggled in a corner on the couch so I assume dinner hasn't been served yet because my mother would never allow any family member to be anywhere but the table for dinner. Yeah. She's stubborn like that.

"What time do you call this?" asks Nana Romano. I grimace. A row with Nana Romano lasts a very long time. She's strict would be an understatement. She's like the modern day Hitler. And to add to the torture, the smell of buttery roasting potatoes wafts out of the kitchen.

"I got caught up in the snow..." I offer. "Because I left my umbrella in the library." I add when I realize she isn't buying it. She just narrows her eyes. Oh for the sake of  roasted potatoes!

"You got you new white shirt dirty!" She hisses.

"And you smell like a wet dog..." Tracy adds.

"Thanks. Your comment really helped my situation Trace." I spit back.

"My God... Veronica!" Nana exclaims. Oh great....now she's involving my mom. Really what's the big deal? It's just 11.30 pm.

"Yes Nana" my mom looks up from her file.

"Veronica, are you going to let the children bicker in front of the family?" She asks.

"Sam, Tracy. Drop it." She says flatly and goes back to her file.

"What did I say?" Tracy snorts. "He smells disgusting."

"I just walked up in the snow. What's your excuse for the foul sour odour you're emitting?" I ask.

She just stands there struggling to come up with a come back. "Whatever." She manages.

"Wow you're so smart. Thank god you're not a literature major." I snap! I see her expression alter. Okay...that was a low blow. But come on...I'm cold and hungry and everybody's cornering me...shit...now I feel bad for what I said.

She just turns around and walks into her room slamming the door after her. Then she comes out again...probably realized she isn't staying in her room right now. She stomps away to the guest room and slams that door behind her.

"Young man...that is no way to talk to y" Nana Romano begins but Meemaw stops her.

"Give the kid a break. At least let him get some warm clothes and food in his belly!" She says. God I love this woman! I give her a grateful smile before I sprint to the common bathroom...since Tracy's already occupied my current room.

As I wash myself, I notice myself humming the Disney song. I slap my palm to my mouth. If Tracy caught me singing this she'll never let it go....oh the pun!

I make it to the diner trying to shake the odd event I witnessed today. Too many thoughts....first Six then mystery singer....

I need to get my head around the weirdness in my life..
