Sam

Four days. It's been four days since I last saw Six. She hasn't even come to college since that incident near the clearing.

I trace my pattern lock on my phone and open my text message conversation with Six.

I scroll through the messages we have exchanged in the past two days.

Wednesday

Me: Hey...I don't know what happened today but I want you to know it's okay. And....if you need to share anything, then I'm here.. :)

Six: Hey, I'm fine. Please do not spread word about this incident.

Me: No no! Absolutely not...I won't say a thing. But you could tell me

Thursday

Six: we've become good friends over a short span of time. Let's not ruin it just yet

Me: what do you mean? What's your big secret Six?

Six: Some other time Sam...

Friday

Me: hey!

Six: Hi :)

Me: when are you coming back?

Six: To college? Maybe in a week..

Me: That long? Could we like hang out some time?

Six: sure!

Saturday

Me: hello! It's Saturday!! Wanna meet up?

Six: Can't today.

Me: what about tomorrow?

Six: Don't know. Will call you if possible.

Today

Me: Hi

Six: Can't meet today

I sigh and toss my phone onto my bed. So mercurial! I'm thrown by her mood swings.

I'm sitting at home on a sunday night doing nothing. Just great.

Huffing once more, I move my ass off my bed and drag it towards the dining table.

"Ma!" I call out. "I'm hungry!"

"Hi hungry!" She calls out in response. "I'm busy!"

I give her an impassive look but she just shrugs politely. Okay then. I'll just go out and get something to snack on before dinner.

I grab my coat and cell phone and hurry out the door.

"Get back before it's dark!" Mom yells so loud they probably heard her at the University! God that woman!

As I turn back to the door I run head on into Tracy. Anger flashes through me. I owed my visit to the doctor to her.

She glances at me and it's obvious she's had a bad day. But we never share our feelings with each other or anything so she just shoves me and walks off. Loser.

I walk swiftly....well as swiftly as I can without slipping and falling flat on my face.

I just don't understand what happened that day. I just tried to give her my jacket. I thought girls liked that? I think I need expert advice.

Good thing I have her on speed dial. She picks up almost immediately.

"Are you taking Six out on a date to the Chinese take out place!?" She asks.
