"Any connection?"
"No. Not yet."
"Goddamnit."
"Maybe we should try again a different time--"
"Dorothy! We don't have time!" Crystal yells.
The two of them were stranded, in a cabin, not too far from Greenwood, Indiana. There, they've tried repeatedly to bring back Luna who seemed to not kick in.
"Try a different station." Crystal ordered, in which Dorothy sighed, and changed the station to a more higher stance.
The only noise that was shared on the other side was pure silence, no white noise, nothing.
"GODDAMNIT!" Crystal said louder, punching the radio with her fist.
"Time my ass." she hisses, getting up from her seat.
Dorothy watched as the blondie circled the cabin, sneaking glances at the bright outside sun that beamed from inside the window panes. It was beautiful, and as much as she watched to go outside and just lie in the grass, sun soaking up all of the oil on her face, she was stuck inside helping a psycho lesbian connect with her other dead lesbian girlfriend that was stuck on the other side.
After Luna's death, she regretted volunteering to be Crystal's new therapist--like she had one before then. Though, having Luna on earth, in her view, was enough for Crystal to not go insane. Now, it seemed like Crystal had a short temper all the time, and always smelled like she just came back from a walk in the sewers, even though the two of them had a shower installed in the cabin.
Even after a month, Crystal still tried her hardest to try to connect with Luna, or lucid dream to put an offering spell on the table for the two of them. But each time she woke up, she was drenched in tears, and her necklace wasn't glowing. She tried every night, and even after a mental breakdown, glass being shattered and harsh words being exchanged, the blondie would be seen in her bed retrying the damn spell all over again.
It annoyed Dorothy not gonna lie. She was irritated with the fact that Dorothy wasn't used as actual help, Crystal was just using her to bring her girlfriend back , and ditch her completely..
Completely of whatever the hell the two of them had going on.
About a week after Luna's passing, Crystal was an actual mess. She would go days without eating, drinking, refusing to talk to Hazel, Will, anyone. Once Dorothy had finally blocked the lock on her door, she managed to get some words out of her mouth.
Though it only turned into a roadtrip to which had certain layers of confusion added to it.
Dorothy never thought she had well--any attraction to girls--Crystal especially.
However after many arguments with Crystal, nonstop yelling at the tongue, of just pure hatred, Crystal vulnerability got the best of her, and their arguing just turned into a makeout session that Dorothy was confused yet craving for.
"Just this one time." Crystal told her.
Those exact words would echoe in her head as she sat lying in bed next to the girl. She'd be in that exact bed about once a week, and each time she told herself she wouldn't end up in that same place, next to the same person, the words that came out of her mouth said otherwise.
"Just this one time."
"Crystal listen--" Dorothy began to say, though her words were cut off by Crystal shushing her.
"Don't "crystal listen" me!" she snapped. She got closer to her face, and a large alarm went off in her head to not let it happen again, though Crystal instead said;
"I don't have time for another lecture, another day without my ACTUAL girlfriend. Alright? So we need to figure out another way, perhaps another station as to why I can't give I can't give Luna an offering spell." she hissed at her.
"CRYSTAL. Are you fucking forgetting you're not even a witch?! You act like everything can be done, though it can't!" She yelled at her. She was sick of how useless she was being treated.
Crystal's facial expression changed instantly, as she slowly backed away from Dorothy's face. Her face settled as she cleared her throat. Dorothy's face only shifted into a smile. An evil one.
"You literally forgot you were a hybrid didn't you? Dumbass." she laughed, beginning to walk away only to be grabbed by Crystal, whose facial expression went back to her normal grudge.
"Watch what you say." she orders, and the smirk on Dorothy's face only gets wider. "Or what? You're gonna force me to offer Luna ANOTHER chance of life? The girl died like what? Five times and counting?" Dorothy whipped her hand from Crystal's grasp.
Dorothy could practically see the smoke rise out of Crystal's ear like in the cartoons, "do not mock my girlfriend's death. OK?! She is stronger than you'll ever be." she pushed her.
It was Dorothy's turn to grab Crystal, pushing her against the kitchen wall, looking in her eyes. "Wait until when she finds out that you've been slumming it with a girl that isn't even gay, and you're just taking advantage of." she whispered in her face.
Crystal grits her teeth together, shaking her head as her fangs pop out. "Bite me, I dare you." She snaps, and pulls back.
Crystal's hair was messed up, and her eyes glowed golden yellow as her lips got redder over time. Dorothy's heartbeat picked up, as the urge to pick on the blondie increased.
"Luna is probably on the other side right now, working her ass off to come back and see you, and then you're here with me." Dorothy adds.
Crystal inched closer to her, making a strong eye contact with her.
"Seems like you're a bad girlfriend. If you guys are still dating."
Crystal was now only inches away from Dorothy's face. She stared at her neck, grabbing her wrists, holding them tight. She could hear her heart beating through her skin, and could smell the perfume she always used, and her sweet red blood.
Dorothy watched her, trying to escape from her grasp, knowing Crystal wouldn't take her life right then, right there. Though the tension between the two of them was hot in the room.
She saw Crystal attempt to go in, but Dorothy looked away, holding Crystal's face so she'd listen.
"Don't."
"You promised." Crystal whispered. Even though they were so close together.
"I promised that one time. Not all the time." she told her, and Crystal's eyes turned back to blue, and her fangs disappeared.
Crystal stared at her lips, eager to kiss them, but she knew better. Guilt filled her eyes, as she was too stubborn to admit that she was right. She was cheating on Luna, who was nothing but strong and patient with her, even after she died.
Was Luna worth it?
Of course. She told herself.
But the more she stared at Dorothy's lip, the more she wanted to kiss them, and just forget about her problems for a second. Her stomach tossed and turned, and finally she gained enough strength to back away from her.
"Do one thing for me. Please." She suddenly filled the silence.
"I told you I'm not--"
"Bring Luna back."
