Ivy Imani Jones was the only person who truly knew anything about me. Not only did she know all my secrets, but she never judged me for them. Not once since we where 15. She was my soul mate, we balanced each other out perfectly. We were a walking representation of yin and yang, that's what her parents always said.

She was only the person I ever allowed myself to rely on. Her heart was pure and kind, and it made sense because her parents were the same. When she had walked me back to her house after we first met and explained what had happened to her parents, leaving out the gun of course, they took me in. The thing that shocked me the most was that they didn't ask about how I'd ended up their, or drill me with questions. They just took me in for me, not my past.

I remember the first time I had told Ivy about what made run away, I'll never forget the look in her eyes. They held no fear, but sympathy. A look no one has ever given me before. Ivy was able to understand the reasonings behind all my actions. Almost better than I could.

Sometimes I feel guilty for keeping her hidden, but it was safer for the both of us. If anyone knew about Ivy, she would quickly become leverage to people like Griffin. Ivy still lived a normal life style, but whenever I wanted to see her, I did my best to make sure that we both monetarily disappeared. Wether it was the tinted windows, taking two different cars, or the burner phone I had bought her just so she could talk to me. It's been like that ever since I was 19. Ever since I decided I was going to exist.

"You almost had sex!?!?!" She squeaks on my couch with a glass of wine in her hand. Palming my face in my hand I nod as I take a sip of water. "It's not even that deep." Her eyes bulge at my words, this was pretty much her whole reaction through out me telling her my encounters since the ball on Saturday. "You're literally in one of those books with a hot mafia guy. I bet you'll fall in love." She smiles as she nudges my shoulder. "You're insane." I laugh at her out of reach thought. "Just saying" she smirks.

"So when do you think you'll see him again?" She asks while taking a sip of her drink. "You mean when he'll break into my house?" I laugh sarcastically. "Well you know what I mean. Are you going to work tomorrow?" Sighing at the thought, "yeah I guess. I mean he knows where I work and live so might as well try to live my life." Her eyes light up, "Speaking of work," she starts "how's Adam?" My eyes narrow down at her question. "He's fine Ivy." She always loved to tease me about this, it was definitely not my highest moment. I got bored of hooking up with rich snobby assholes from the club that just happened to be able to fuck good.

After Ivy had downed a few more glasses of wine, we both decided it would be best for one of my drivers to take her home. I was left by myself to prepare for the possible chaos of tomorrow.
