Another drug bust.

It's amazing how many people think they can actually get away with smuggling drugs in and out of the country. And some do manage. But we stop the ones we can. Like today.

We're trying. So far, we've caught one person who goes by the name of Quentin, and Voight and Antonio are currently interrogating him. No, scratch that. Voight is currently beating answers out of him. I was about to sit at my desk when I saw somebody else was in the room.

"Ruzek stole my chair." Erin said. I laughed. We talked about the case for a while and got to a dead end when we realized there weren't any new updates.

I looked around and noticed still that nobody was around but me and Erin. This was it. Now or never.

I walked over to Erin, who was sitting on my desk.

"You know.. We no longer work together. So a lot of the rules and regulations, they don't apply anymore." We both smirked. She knew exactly what rule I was talking about. We sat there with our eyebrows raised and smirks plastered to our faces for what felt like ages, but I wish it could have been longer.

She was about to say something when her boss, Special Agent David Lang, walked in the room.

"Where's Quentin?" He asked, in search of one of the drug smuggling leaders. Erin got up with a look of disappointment on her face. "Right this way." As she walked away, she looked back at me and winked.

This conversation wasn't over.

Erin unfortunately had to go back to her own headquarters with Lang after him and Voight argued about who was handling what part in the case. They eventually decided that Intelligence would work on cracking the drug case and Lindsay's task force would work on finding Kylee Rozalez, who was informing on Damian Mendoza, her "boyfriend", who was part of the smuggling operation. Erin's team was supposed to raid their stash this morning but by the time they got there, everyone had already left. David thinks that Kylee played them but Erin believes that she was taken against her will because she left a daughter behind.

We worked on the case for who knows how long-it must have been hours and hours-before we got an idea of where Mendoza and his crew could be. We immediately suited up and headed out.

The task force we were working with was participating in the chase before we knew it. As soon as Ruzek figured out what Damian was driving, a scrap metal truck, David Lang and his crew took off. Ruzek radioed Antonio and told him that he was headed their way and Dawson put out spike strips.

Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, Damian Mendoza and his scrap metal truck hit the strip, causing the tires to spiral. He ran through a fence and the truck stopped in a mountain of pebbles and dirt in an abandoned parking lot.

Every one of the officers and detectives had their weapons out and ready as soon as the truck stopped. Antonio's car had been damaged when Damian ran over the spikes but neither him nor Voight appeared to be injured because they were both surrounding the vehicle with their guns in hand.

With Atwater and myself gathering Mendoza out of the driver's seat, Lindsay put her weapon away and opened the passenger side door. On the floor of the vehicle laid Kylee, with duct tape around her hands, feet and mouth. Erin helped her out of the vehicle and with the help of David, they unraveled the tape and helped Ms. Rozalez to safety.

Kevin and I practically broke apart the trailer of the truck, searching for the stolen money that Damian Mendoza and his team had been gaining from illegally dealing drugs and such. After much destruction and a few scrapes and bruises, we finally found a vault buried deeply in the rubble. There had to be millions there.
