the one that got away - katy perry

————————————————————————

summer after highschool when we first met, we'd make out in your mustang to radiohead

i walked into the small store and immediately went to the candy isle. i grabbed a twix and skittles before grabbing a case of beer and heading to the register. i went to the one with a young girl who seemed to be about my age.

"i can't ring this up for you." she said with a small smile.

"why not?" i asked smiling back.

"it's obvious you're not 21."

"maybe my charm will work instead?" i lightly brushed my hand over hers as i handed her the candy and beer. she rung it up quietly and didn't look at me as i walked out.

a week later we were parked next to the lake and were basically down each other's throats. she pulled away suddenly and looked at the car radio.

"what is this music?" she laughed and i saw her eyes sparkle.

"radiohead." i smiled at her. "you've never heard them before?"

"no, i haven't." she laughed before kissing me again.

and on my 18th birthday we got matching tattoos

"does it hurt?" i asked her looking in the mirror at my tattoo. it was a heartbeat line on my wrist, y/n was getting a heart to match.

"only a little." she smiled at me from the chair. "do you like it?"

"i love it." i replied smiling.

used to steal your parents liquor, and climb to the roof

"shhhhh, you're gonna get us caught." she giggled pulling me through the window and onto the roof.

"no you are loud ass!!" i replied holding a bottle of vodka we got from her parents cabinet.

"do you think they'll notice?" i questioned as we were passing the bottle back and forth on the roof.

"probably not, and even if they do they'll probably think it's my sister." she whispered back.

i followed her gaze and noticed she was looking at the moon. her eyes sparkled from the light and i couldn't believe how beautiful she was. what a cliche, but wow. i literally couldn't take my eyes off of her.

talk about our future like we had a clue

"you think we're gonna be together forever?" she asked while resting her head on my chest.

"i hope so." i replied, trailing my hand lightly across her back.

"do you wanna marry me?" she pushed further.

"yes."

"you do?" she looked up at me.

"of course." i smiled.
