Tomorrow is the day work starts and I'm done with my one roomed apartment. I repainted my walls a light beige and added similar coloured curtains to each window which reached down to the panelled flooring. Everything was wooden and corresponded to the same colour pattern throughout the room.
In the far corner I added a double bed with a side table. In the middle of the floor was a small circular dinning table with two chairs either side. Next to it was a little desk which presented all the loose sheets of my designs and colourful fabrics covering it. I dotted soft green plants around the room in pastel coloured plant pots. I stood in my doorway looking around the room, proud of what I could achieve in such short time.
I had a simple meal of beans ok toast, not bothering to make anything substantial as I headed off to bed. The following morning all I felt like doing was lying in bed all day. The nerves of starting work in a few hours pulling into my duvet covers and begging me to return to sleep, the urge nearly as strong as a magnet. I finally dragged myself up and took a long warm shower to wake me up.
I slipped on some loose fit peach trousers that came to just above my ankles, tying the felt belt up in a small bow. I styled it with a white blouse that showed a small laced rim around the top with the bottom being tucked into my trousers. The top was in a small v-neck shape coming to just above my chest with a small necklace and plain jewel pendent positioned in the middle. The thin straps went over both my shoulders as the thin fabric held well around my waist.
I pulled my white blazer over top with the arms shortened slightly and rolled up showing a small charm bracelet that hung from my pale wrist. I few charms dotted the chain as I spun around a jewel encrusted love heart, the one my mother once bought for me. I grabbed my handbag, matching it with my trousers and placing it over my arm. I had already packed my bag the previous night, taking away the stress of morning packing. I slipped on some neutral coloured heels and headed out the door making sure I'd locked it on my way out.
I wondered down the empty streets looking through all the opening shop windows. I left early so I knew I would have time to spy in at all the shops with the staff buzzing around, ready to start a new day of work. As I strolled past shop after shop I found a small family run coffee shop, it's glass windows squeaky clean and it's floor swept clean of all mud and dirt. And went to the till and ordered a medium sized pumpkin spiced latte. It's one of my favourite drinks and is barely sold anywhere anymore so whenever I can find it, I make sure to grab one every time.
As I arrived at work, they welcomed me in and to a large room filled with tables and desks and large white boards with projectors overhead. Everything was in natural colours of grassy green, oaky brown and sky blue. As I entered the room, everyone silenced themselves and sat staring at the new person standing in their working area. The kind lady who showed me in stood at the front, lightly clapping her hands together to collect the remaining people's attention.
"Good morning everyone. I would like to introduce our newest member, Amber Rose. She will be working with Mia Lily until she understands everything fully and gets her own desk." A young girl not much older than me, stands up.
She is wearing a tight black turtleneck shirt with a checked shirt that came to above her knees. She had stiletto black ankle boots which laced up at the front. Her hair was long and wavy. She had a welcoming smile flashing across her face as she walked over to me and pulled me over to her desk.
Through the course of the day, I got to know Mia Lily well. She was nice and funny and I'm sure we will be good friends. I feel as though she was my best friend before I even got here. It was a good first day at work but I was still on a four week trial so wouldn't get paid for a while, which I didn't mind as much as I already loved the job.
The day ended and I walked back with Mia. Her house was just a few streets down from mine giving us more time to get to know each other. The rest of the day was uneventful, much like the week. It got to Saturday and I needed a lie in but I knew I couldn't for quite a while. Today was my first day at my second job.
I worked in a corner cafe on Saturdays and Sundays to make the money to pay for my apartment. I didn't mind it much and would have to keep it up for some time. I was using this job to pay the rent and when I finally get income from the other one, I will save it up and use it to buy my dream apartment. Luckily the coffee shop I work at is the same one I buy my latte from every morning so I get a small discount from it.
The job is nice and the customers are always so polite compared to what I'm used to. I had to learn some french but it isn't great. I hope in the future I will be able to speak fluently in it but I'm not there yet. I call my dad and brother every day like I said and keep to myself most of the time.
I stick with the same morning routine of what I did on the first day but the lack of sleep is catching up on me. By the end of the second week I'm knackered. I fall down and sleep waiting for the third day of work at the cafe.
