~time skip of four years~
I spun the metal of the warm ring around my finger looking at the lilac diamond sparkly brightly in the sun which beamed in through the window. The ring had a beautiful lavender coloured gem in the middle with a small silver rose either side next to a leaf which merged into the silver ring itself.
Feeling the metal press against the skin of my right hand's ring finger, the memories of two years ago drift through my mind giving me ecstatic butterflies all over again. I remember every moment of it from the sounds in the distance to the smell of his aftershave.
It was way too early for my liking as Thomas dragged me out of bed with strawberry pancakes and golden syrup. He always knew how to make me smile. I rolled out of bed and into the kitchen sitting on the stool as I watched him serve up. Every time I see his mischievous grin it makes me realise just how lucky I am to have him.
It's nearly half five in the morning which I can tell you I was not happy about. I look out the window of our apartment seeing the dark night sky littered with stars. I moved in with Thomas a couple months after he woke up from the coma. Life is perfect. Sure we have our ups and downs but I wouldn't change a thing.
I finish breakfast and get changed as Thomas wants to take me somewhere. Apparently it's a long drive and that's the reason for the early wake up but I still move at my usual lazy pace for the morning. I slip on a white lace summer dress with a washed blue denim jacket. Dusting a light layer of makeup on and tying my hair up in a messy low bun, I am ready to leave.
We leave the apartment and walk through the night streets. Thomas has his arms around me and we walk. Recently he has started writing a book in his free time and is telling me all about it until we end up outside a coffee shop. It's the one where we met just over two years ago.
They are just opening as we go in. There is a young blonde waitress standing behind the counter in black jeans and shirt, plastering a smile on her face, welcoming us in. We ordered our pumpkin spiced lattes then walked out into the cold street and lamp lit lanes.
We kept walking until we got to a corner and we stopped throwing away the empty cups from our drinks. Thomas looked down at his watch before looking up at me. Something about this gave me a feeling of deja vu.
"Where are we going?" I question taking his hand in mine.
"It's just around the corner." He looked at me with a slight nervous smile before pulling me along behind him, his big hands enclosing mine within them.
We walked on for a bit when a familiar sight came into view. Stood in the darkness ahead was the eiffel tower. It hadn't changed from when we first came here together.. I remember being so nervous in his presence. How things have changed, sometimes at least.
"The Eiffel tower. It looks just the same as-" I started to speak my thoughts when he interrupted me.
"The first time we came here?" how he always manages to finish off my sentences, I will never know. He is looking straight ahead as he says it before turning to face me, taking both my hands in his and pulling me closer to him.
"Happy anniversary babe." I thought he had forgotten. A smile curls my lips up even more as he leans down kissing me before pulling away quickly. "Come on, we need to go." I let out a small laugh as he pulled me along.
We soon arrive at the very top, following the same no entry signs as before. As I walked through the last gated door I saw candles in a circle in the exact place we stood last time. My cheeks started to hurt as I looked up at him from smiling.
