Effects of Helplessness

Jackie sat on the porch as she watched the others train, like they did every other day. It seemed like they were training more and more, didn't help that Leo kept trying to rush the healing process of his wounds. At least he could walk around without his cane at this point, but Donnie warned Leo not to push himself. Jackie was still healing from the events with Speed Demon, so she took Donnie's advice and decided she wouldn't push her wounds. Well, he didn't really recommend it to her verbally as Jackie tried her best to avoid him. It wasn't because of what he did when Speed Demon had taken control of his own body, he wasn't in control of that by then. Jackie just didn't know how the two could just put the event behind them with April being in Donnie's life. Jackie subconsciously pet Yuki's back, who was curled in a ball, a little as the sun's light shone on the two.

Speaking of April and Donnie, both were inside of the barn testing out some weird tech. After the event with "The Other Mother" or how Mikey called the false copy of April's Mother, Donnie tried to see if he could activate April's physic powers but in a safe level. Mikey was also in the barn as Raph and Casey were training against Leo. At first, Jackie thought against it but didn't care at the same time when Leo told her he'd be fine. Casey seemed to be whispering to Raph as Leo began to stretch. The two stopped talking to each other and looked over at Jackie, but she was watching Leo. "Alright, I'll go easy on him. But you owe me one." Raph told Casey, the two doing a signature fist-bump before looking back at Leo who was taking deep breathes. "Uh, yeah Leo. I bet you can take us both down." Raph yelled with a smirk, Jackie looked at the two in confusion but a sense of relief washed over her when Casey gave her a thumbs up.

"Casey anyways." Raph said as he spun around his sais, Casey flipping his mask on and grabbing one of many hockey sticks. Leo grabbed his katanas out of the ground and spun them around in his hands before looking over to Casey and Raph with a grin. "Let's find out." Leo said and then spun his dual swords around and stopping in a battle stance. Casey was the first to make a move, but no one got hurt. Casey blocked Leo's katanas with his hockey stick and tried to hit Leo, but Leo was faster and was quick to dodge any attacks given by Casey. Soon enough, Leo was able to send Casey tumbling and Raph stepped in. The two brothers couldn't land a hit on each other either but Leo was soon enough disarmed with only one katana is hand. Raph had flung it as an attempt to block an attack from Leo. 

Raph attempted an airol attack but Leo pushed him off, them both landing with some grace. But Leo groaned as he felt his knee become injured, putting his hands on it as Jackie stood up. Yuki seemed to also sense something as she stared at Leo while standing on the stairway. "No, no. Not again." Leo groaned as Jackie tried to carefully make her way down the stairs, Yuki walking next to her. "Bro!" Raph yelled as Casey got up and called Leo's name. Jackie got the idea of the situation and ran to the three. "Oh my- are you okay Leo?" Jackie asked as Casey and Raph carried Leo over to the house, Yuki whimpered to show her concerns and tried to smell Leo to figure out what exactly was wrong. Leo didn't answer Jackie as he limped a bit until the five reached the house. "Just let me down here." Leo said as he reached for the railing of the stairs and sat on them, Jackie stood next to him and lowered herself so she was sitting on her knees.

"It's hopeless." Leo said after sighing and gestured to his knee. "Aw, come on Leo. You just need to stretch it out." Raph said in an attempt to make the situation better. "You could spar with us." Casey offered as Jackie reached over to grab Leo's shoulder. Yuki sat on the opposite side of Leo with her ears close to her head. "NO!" Leo yelled, causing Jackie to pull back her arm and Yuki to yelp and run behind Raph in fear. Casey and Raph looked at Leo in shock as Jackie frowned at him. "I mean." Leo said as he suddenly saw what he did and tried to figure out what to say. "You guys train, I'll... watch." Leo said as he glared at the ground. "It's all I'm good for." Leo said as everyone still looked at him, Jackie sighed and just looked at Raph and Casey. She nodded before Casey and Raph looked at each other.

"Alright, let Jackie know if you need anything buddy." Casey said and walked off with Raph, the two going back to sparring as Jackie got up and sat next to Leo. Yuki jumped onto Jackie lap and looked at Leo with uncertainty. "You sure you're okay Leo?" Jackie asked as Leo stretched out his injured leg carefully, massaging it to relieve some tension. "I'm fine." Leo said and glared at his leg. "Stupid leg. It's never gonna heal." He mumbled under his breath, Jackie heard but focused on Yuki. "Injuries take time to heal Leo. Trust me when I say that." Jackie said as she moved her gaze to Leo, who scoffed as he rolled his eyes. "Oh sure, like you know what it's like to feel powerless." Leo said as he glared at the ground. Jackie narrowed her eyes at leo, Yuki jumping off and pawing at Leo as a way of saying he should take it back.

"Oh, yeah, I definitely don't know how that feels." Jackie said as she folded her arms across her chest. "I definitely didn't worry day an night that my powers would hurt someone because I didn't know how to control them at the time. I definitely didn't worry about you guys every hour I was gone with the elementals and I definitely don't know what it's like to lose a brother." Jackie said, Leo looking at her in guilt as he finally realized what he had done. Jackie laughed angerly and pushed herself off the stairs and looked at him with an icy glare. "I bet it wouldn't make much sense if I tried to make you feel better when I definitely don't know how it feels to be helpless." She growled as she walked off, Yuki slapping her forehead as Leo rubbed the back of his head.
