one month later ✨

Layla POV*

Today, Monte and I are going up to the school to watch the opening game for basketball season. Jayda's school crush is on the team and she wants us to go.

Monte has made a full recovery from being shot a little over a month ago. Everything has been going good between us. We have been taking things slow because I don't want to rush into things.

"The game starts at 4, are you gonna be here on time? You just now getting dressed?", Jayda asked

We were on FaceTime while I was getting ready.

"Yes I'm going to be there on time. I already did my makeup, I just need to do my hair real quick and then I'll be on my way"

"Is Monte picking you up?"

"No, I have to go get him"

"Oh my gosh", she groaned out

"I'll be there on time! Where's Ayana?"

"With Dante. I'm nervous girl. This nigga asked me to come watch him play today, that means he's gonna be looking for me"

"What's his name again?"

"Tyrell"

"Oh, well you'll be fine girl. I'll be there in an hour"

"Alright"

Once we hung up the phone, I finished getting ready. Once I was getting ready to leave, I texted Monte letting him know I was on my way and to be ready.

Monte<3- I'm already ready. You told me be ready by 2 and it's 3

I read his message and continued driving to his house. Once I got there I called him to come outside.

He came out the house and got in the car.

"Wassup beautiful"

"Hey friend", I said driving off

"Doesn't the game start at 4?"

"Mind your business okay?"

He started laughing and connected his phone to my car so he could play music. It was about a 45 minute drive with my speed. Once we got there I called Jayda to see where she was.

"I'm standing by the gym entrance with Ayana and Dante. We was waiting for you", she said

"Alright, we're walking over there now", I said

"Ok"

I hung up the phone and put it in my back pocket.

"They're waiting for us at the gym"

He nodded as we walked to the gym. Once we started getting close, I could see Jayda, Ayana, and Dante standing there talking until we got to them.

"Layla is finally here!", Jayda said yelling while turning her head towards us

"Finally, girl the game started at 4", Ayana said

"I'm sorry! I couldn't get my hair right and I was getting real irritated", I said shaking my head

"She was trynna look good for me", Monte said

I looked at him and rolled my eyes. "I was trynna look good for my ex boyfriend who plays on the team"

He scrunched up his face and chuckled. "What?"

"She ain't got no ex boyfriend here", Jayda said laughing
