I made my way back up to Janine Cast's front door. I didn't get a chance to question her the day before. She was too distraught. I sat patently, waiting for her to clam down enough to speak.
"Janine, do you know of anyone who would want to hurt Marie?" I asked, softly.
"N-no, she....she was loved by everyone. All of her friends adored her."
"You mentioned friends, why is that?"
"She was with a group of friends, partying at one of their houses. I got a call from Marie's boy friend, Jason. He said that Marie and Jaclyn were staying at his parents house and he was going out."
"Were his parents home?"
"No, they are out of town and will be for a few weeks."
"Is Jason's parents house located on Alabama Avenue?"
"Yes. Is that where my Marie was found?"
"Yes ma'am. Do you know what friends were at the party with her?"
"Names?"
"Yes ma'am. I need the names of the friends. They may be able to help us piece together what happened."
Nodding Janie wrote down the list of names.
"Thank you for your time, Miss Cast. I'll keep in touch."
"Thank you so much Detective, for all you've done."
Janine leaned over and hugged me.
"Thank you." She said again, a smile on her face. "Good luck."
"I'll let you know what I find out, Miss Cast." I said.
It's time to start tracking down and questioning Marie's so-called friends.
