"Selena." Branson's voice echoed through my daydreaming about how my life would change and what the word power means. I am imagining a world full of heroes and stuffs like that eventhough I know that it is impossible.

"Yeah?"

He put a pot on the stove and looked at me. "You need shower?"

I gazed at my hands and feet. "Ew." I said in disgust. They are covered with dirt and they are starting to itch. "I need to shower, ASAP."

"The bathroom's on the right, the yellow towel is for you, and the body soap is on the washbasin." Branson told me as he filled the pot with water from a big jar.

"Okay." I said. "And thanks a pot."

"A pot?" He raised an eyebrow.

"It's more than a lot." I laughed and headed to the bathroom. I turned the shower on and hot water sprayed out of it, warming and wetting my body. It just feels so good! A hot shower in a cold weather is totally a combo.

I applied some soap on my skin afterwards. Soon, the sweet fragrance blossomed up. Unlike any other soap I've used, this one is different—its scent. It works like a drug that calms you down, except that this one doesn't harm you.

It is weird that I can tell what smell is this, though. "Lemongrass, fresh cucumbers, sweet floral notes and green tea as the base." my mind responded almost in an instant.

And the weirdest thing happened.

Some pictures started to appear in my mind. First, I saw two little kids, a girl and a boy, running on a purple wildflower field. Then it switched into them sitting on a rock watching sunrise, but they've grown a bit older. Last, they were splashing water on each other's faces on the river. And again, they grew. They looked almost as old as me, but 1 or 2 years younger.

Then I was thrown back to reality, gasping.

I feel the warm water again. Minutes ago, it felt like I am in those blurred videos. I heard them laugh, but I can't see their faces clearly. I need to figure this out immediately. Who are they? These two kids can't just popped out without any meanings. I put on a green sweater and got out.

"Branson." I said when I saw his back. He's cooking something but I don't care. My brain is already overloaded by tons of questions. "Two kids just popped out in my brain. And if I may know, who are they?"

"Slow down." He said and pulled a chair for me. He left for a moment and came back with two bowls in his hands. "Tell me about it."

We ate our dinner while I explained what happened earlier. Finally, Branson responded. "Actually, those pictures are your childhood memories. It's good that they popped out. It means your memories are starting to recover."

"Wait a minute." I said in shock when I heard the words 'memories' and 'recover'. "You mean I had amnesia when I was a kid?" This explains a lot about my hatred towards humans.
He must've left me.

"No. Your dad and I. We hid your memories." I looked at him as if he was an alien.

Whoa.

How can they erase my memories? Plug me to a computer and delete all the data in my head? Oh please, it is way too illogical. "But we did it for your safety." he quickly added.

"But how did you guys erase my memories?" I asked him, almost laughing.

"Hid your memories," he corrected. "It's hard to explain, Selena. But tomorrow, I'll not just tell you about it. I will show you, agree?" it's surprising that all I see in him is seriousness. He is not joking.

"Okay." I said. At least half of my curiosity has been satisfied.

After dinner, I helped Branson to clean up. "So how's the food?" he questioned me when we were sitting at the living room, on the sectional sofa. Me on the single-sized part and him on the wider part of the sofa with his back against the armrest, facing me.

"It's great! I was never allowed to eat any instant food. He said that it's not good for my health. In fact, he says that to all of my favorite food." I sighed.

"He loves you so much, you know?".

"Yeah." I yawned and rubbed my eyes. It's past my bedtime and I'm exhausted.

"Go to bed. Now." Branson pretended to sound like Dad but he failed. We ended up laughing it off for minutes.

"You are so hilarious!" I burst out laughing again. "Dad is too hard for you to immitate. He's got that stern-looking face every time he wants me to go to bed." I said when I am able to control my endless laughter.

But we laughed again for another minute. It seems that Dad is very funny for us both. "Now, go to bed. Tomorrow's a big day. Sleep well!" he waved to me.

"You too, Branson!" I shouted before I closed the bedroom's door. I lied myself on the soft bed and felt guilty. I'm just a guest and I slept on the bed while Branson slept on the sofa. It must've been really cold outside without a blanket! I hugged mine tightly and before I knew it, I was already asleep.

***

I heard the bedroom's door clicked open and someone shouted. "Good morning, Selena!"I grunted a bit and covered my face with my pillow, ignoring whoever's voice is that.

"Good morning!" This time the voice is closer than before. Yet I still ignore it. But not long after that, rays of light pierced in and burnt my eyes.

Ufff.

I hate waking up so early! I cracked an eye opened to look at the clock. It's still 6 a.m.. It's too early. I need a little bit more rest. I leaned on the wall beside me and decided to sleep for a while.

5 minutes or so, I woke up with a smile on my face. When I opened the door, a tall figure was standing there. "Oh shit, shit, shit!" he said. His hair was wet and untidy; he looked like he has just got out of the bathroom. "Selena!" he shouted again when I stood there and looked at him weirdly.

"What is it, Branson?" I asked him sleepily.

"You've got only 5 minutes to get ready and leave and we have to be on time! And this is very important!" he shouted non-sensely to my face and shook my shoulders like I only weight 2 ounces to him.

"What?" I exclaimed. How can I finish everything in 5 minutes? This is crazy! "5 minutes?!" I shouted back again.

"Yes! I woke you up earlier but you don't want to get up then I forgot to wake you up again! " he shook my shoulders, again. I escaped his strong grip and raced like a jet for the whole 5 minutes time. Finally, I finished everything.

"You done?" Branson's head popped up at the front door.

"Yep." I said and grabbed my rucksack. Suddenly I was pulled out of the house on the wrist. "Whoa!" I said when my feet didn't touch the floor. The next thing I know, I was sitting behind a guy who wears a denim jacket on a motorbike. My hands are wrapped around his body.

On the journey, no one uttered any single word. I have felt awkward enough and I think we are really late for whatever occassion Branson said is important which I'm sure is very important, too. His panicked face showed it all.

As we rode along the streets, a big question remained unanswered in my head:

"Who is that boy in my childhood memories?"
