Chapter 1
It was a cloudy morning in Pasadena, California. And apartment 4A was surprisingly quiet. Leonard was still asleep at Penny's, and Sheldon was sitting in his robe having breakfast – oatmeal, since it was Monday. The apartment below, 3A, had been empty for quite sometime, and finally, someone had come along to make it home. Downstairs, a new girl was moving boxes into the lobby, when Sheldon remembered that he carelessly forgot to pick up his mail on Friday. He had been busy working on his string theory all weekend and hadn't gotten much sleep. No wonder I forgot, he thought, the brain cannot be expected to function normally on little sleep. He showers, dresses, and walks downstairs to grab his mail.
When he gets downstairs, he notices all the boxes, and immediately starts to panic at the thought of who might be moving in. He watches her enter the door – she's short, around 5'4, light brunette hair, wearing a striped sweater, and carrying a box filled with DVD's and xbox games. He wonders to himself if she has good taste in either things or if it were only chick flicks, dumb comedies, and dance games. Of course it probably were, he thinks. His thoughts are interrupted when she trips over her feet and sends the box to the floor, spilling out.
He turns from his mailbox, walks up, looks down at her, and says, “Excuse me, you may want to watch your feet next time, they seem to be functioning improperly.”
She gives him a smirk and a slightly dirty look for the sarcasm and replies. “Yeah, no surprise there. Happens all the time. I'm a bit clumsy,” and begins to pick up her things.
Sheldon fights the urge to walk back upstairs and tries to be polite. Disgruntled, he looks down at her,“I'm not partial to touching stranger's things, but would you mind some help?”
“Oh...yeah. Thanks, that'd be nice,” she smiles.
Of course, Sheldon isn't one for small talk, but he spots something familiar, picks it up, and places it back in the box. “Halo 3...good game,” he says, matter-of-factly.
She pauses, smiles, and looks up at him, “Hey, it's one of my favorites. Combat Evolved is the best in my opinion, though. Maybe you'd want to play co-op sometime?”
Was this girl asking him to hang out? How absurd. She didn't even know him. What if she was highly unintelligent or extremely messy? Well, Penny isn't all that bad – annoying at times, yes, but, maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a closer look at the female who will be living underneath the apartment.
“Hm, sure. Halo night...something I am familiar with. I suppose I could maybe attend your apartment for a night. Would there be dinner involved, or just a strict gaming session?”
While she was waiting for his reply, she had been noticing the oddity of his actions, expressions, and personality and immediately felt herself drawn to them. “Sure, dinner would be nice. How about I order Chinese? I have these light saber chopsticks...”
Light saber chopsticks, he thought. Light saber chopsticks? I must definitely see these. I might be interested in purchasing some for myself. I hate to admit it, but she isn't all that bad. Good taste in pop culture, at least.
They both stand to their feet, a slightly awkward silence lingering between the two as they pause looking at each other. She quickly feels a sort of nervousness – the kind that she usually feels when talking to a male that she finds attractive. She wonders what he's thinking, but he seems nearly unreadable. Despite the fact that she had been told she was “hot” by many of her guy friends, she discredited this and continued to be shy and have fairly low self-esteem. He'd probably never notice me in that kind of way, she thinks.
She feels her face begin to flush and she quickly turns to carry the box upstairs, since it was her last to bring into the building. Sheldon notices her swift movement away, but not catching onto why she would do that, he follows her and begins to ask her questions about her living habits – a ritual to anyone who has moved into the building.
“Do you have any pets? Play an instrument? Plan to have children soon?”
He's super worrisome and very strict about things, she thinks to herself. Yet she finds this amusing, and begins to answer all questions, very professionally...as if she were in an interview for something important. They get to the top of the stairs and she opens her door. Sheldon seemed satisfied and slightly relieved with her answers, yet he was still standing there.
“Well, um...I'm going to finish carrying my things up here. So, I'll see you around?” she says.
“Oh. Yes. Ok. Before I return to my place, could I get your name? For emergency purposes?” he asks in a very all-business tone. This worries her that he really may only want her name for an emergency, yet makes her wonder if he just wanted to know it for himself.
“It's Andy.”
“Alright. Thank you.” And just like that, he turns around to walk away, and she returns downstairs to finish moving in.

Hey, guys! So I don't have very many fans on Wattpad, but this is an older fanfic of mine that I thought I'd share. I'll go ahead and put up the second chapter, but I would greatly appreciate some feedback as I still haven't written an ending or anything.
