I never thought that six months ago we'd be sitting here waiting to meet the enemy face-to-face. Six months of waiting, preparing, and wondering if we were ever going to have this encounter has come down to this. The visions that Eren had seen were coming to fruition.

The dead of night blanketed us as we awaited the arrival of the intruders. The breeze gently pushed the dewy blades of grass along its path, wafting the fresh smell of the recent rain into the air.

I sat behind a rock near Levi, listening to the footsteps that were approaching us. I shot him a look, waiting for the signal. Hange hid nearby, along with the other scouts, ready to attack should the need arise.

Levi stepped forward, drawing his blade in one swift movement. A sudden gasp echoed into my ears from an unfamiliar voice, following by shaky sobs. Pushing myself up, I drew my blade and turned the corner of the rock, quickly approaching the intruders.

Levi stood behind a man with blonde wavy hair with his blade pressed against the man's back. I noticed another dark haired man near him, frozen in fear as he stared at his comrade. I gently pressed the tip of my blade between his shoulder blades. Without a word, I removed some restraints from my back pocket, handing Levi a pair before restraining the man before me.

"Who are you?" Levi asked dryly.

"W-why should I tell you?" The blonde spat, clearly shaking in his boots.

"Well, you could tell me who you are and why you're here, or I could just kill you and be done with it," Levi answered monotonously.

"Filthy devils..." the man I had to my blade to hissed.

Scanning around the field, I could see our comrades holding other enemy scouts hostage in similar fashion. Seven men in total, from what I can see. Hange sauntered over to us with her arms crossed, peering over the men.

"Well, well, well, you guys sure are talkative," She mused, "We just want to know a little more about you!"

"If you think I'm going to talk to you disgusting island devils, you're wrong!" The blonde spat.

"If we're so bad, then why are you here?" Hange countered.

At that, the man bit his lip and growled, unable to come up with an answer, "The name's Niccolo."

The brunette glared over his shoulder at me, piercing me with his hard brown eyes. Not faltering, I returned the gaze with equal intensity. These people came here with every intention to harm my comrades... the people I grew to care for. Nine months ago we didn't even know that other humans even existed... now that we learned the truth, and that there are countless people in the world who all hate us, I felt uneasy. Hatred would be too strong of an emotion. Confusion would be better. How could anyone hate someone they never met?

"Come with us, we just want to talk!" Hange squeaked, feigning innocence in her tone.

Nudging the brunette man with my blade, we followed Hange back towards the shore of the sea. There was only one way they could have approached our land, after all. Listening to the footsteps in the grass as we walked, I kept my eye on the man, keeping the tip of the blade firmly between his shoulder blades. The salt from the water filled the air thickly as we approached the shore. Crashes of waves onto the sand reverberated throughout the area. In the distance, I noticed a vessel approaching slowly. A ship?
