About a day has passed since Hange and the others left for Shiganshina. Levi and I spent most of the evening just talking the night away until I eventually dozed off in his arms. The afternoon sun slowly sank in the sky with each passing minute.

"That campsite was nearly destroyed... you're saying every single one of those soldiers turned into Titans?" I asked, sitting on my knees in front of Levi. He wore a sullen expression, staring down where my knees met the wood surface of the wagon.

"Yeah..." Levi whispered.

I swallowed. Elias was among the soldiers... I had sent him to deliver the news about the premier. He never came back...

"First, I was talking to your men, then the bastard was running and used his scream. I had to do it. I had to kill them... it was the only way..." He added. "It all happened so quickly."

I winced as he spoke. I could hear the pain in his voice as he relived the experience.

"I'm sorry..." I murmured.

He cocked his head up. "Why are you sorry?"

"I should have told you about the wine. I feel partially responsible."

"You didn't taint it... You didn't do anything. I made the call to bring it."

My face fell, looking down at my fists on my knees. A long pause fell between us.

"I saw him..." I murmured. Glancing up to Levi, I could see him looking at me as if he were waiting for me to continue. "My father. I saw him before we were taken by the Jaegerists. He looked me right in the eye and told me he made a deal with Yelena. He had been working with the Jaegerists to distribute the wine."

"So, he's not imprisoned..." Levi mused.

"No..." I replied.

"Are you okay?"

"The fact that my murderer of a father is free and has been spreading tainted wine to our people? No... not really. I thought he was out of my life completely. When I saw him... I felt frozen. All this emotion and pain just swirled within me. Drowning me. I felt like I was choking. I almost thought Floch was going to hand me over to him right then and there."

I could see Levi clench a fist against the blanket over his lap. A barely audible growl left him. Ignoring it, I continued.

"But -- because I was the only one who knew where you were with Zeke, he took Hange and I hostage. I didn't want to cooperate. I had no choice. I could only think about you and--" I stopped short, glancing down at my stomach briefly before meeting Levi's gaze. "I didn't want to bring danger to you willingly. They forced my hand."

"Nothing would have happened."

"But something did happen!" I interjected, bringing my palm gently to his cheek. "When I found you lying by that river, I felt my world shatter. It felt like I had died... and the world was frozen."

I felt him lean into my touch slightly, avoiding my gaze. "I thought I had lost you. I couldn't bear that. Then you woke up and I felt such relief to be able to look into your eyes." I leaned closer, nearly pressing our chests together with lips only centimetres apart. "Then you made love to me last night... and I felt alive again."

I heard a hungry growl leave his lips before closing the distance. Our tongues carefully met, languidly rolling and exploring each other as I felt his hand land on my waist. He continued to tenderly kiss me, letting his hand gently caress my waist and hip. My hands cupped his cheeks, suddenly sensing the deep desire to become one with him once again.

Our kiss deepened as I threw a leg over his hips, straddling him where he sat. His groans of lust sent me over the edge, signaling his desire for more as I removed my lower layers before unzipping him just enough. With a gasp of pleasure, I sat on him, relishing our bodies fusing into one. Our hands held each other close as we moved, physically showing our love and desire for one another through whispers of sweet nothings, kisses, and climbing our to our highest point before free falling into euphoria.
