New Beginnings| A Chanjin/Hyunchan story

Part 8

The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. Every once in a while one of the four spoke and made small conversation, however, most of the time it was just Felix and Changbin in their own world. Laughing and talking away. The sound of the sizzling meat Changbin was cooking was all Hyunjin could really hear, as he was spaced out and thinking about other things.

While the four 'adults' were outside enjoying the aura, one of the girls awoke.

"Mommy...?" Mina stood clutching her teddy bear at the opened back door.
"Oh what happened?" Hyunjin gestured for Mina to come sit on his lap.
Mina pouted as she sat on Hyunjin's lap, Hyunjin's arms wrapped around Mina's small shoulders, and his head resting delicately on the top of Mina's head.
"Is your sister still sleeping?" Hyunjin asked in a whisper.
"Yeah..." Mina said in a sleepy voice, falling asleep again in her mother's embrace.

Chan cooed, "awe that's cute" he said while looking at Hyunjin and Mina.
All Hyunjin could do was gulp. Chan could be in that same position with Mina and Yennie, yet the universe chose against it.

Then, Yennie came. "Mommy? Where Mina?? Where Mina?"
"She's right here sweetie" Hyunjin pointed at Mina who was still in his lap.
"Come here" Hyunjin added, gesturing Yennie to come sit with him, alike Mina. The three were very much squished in one chair. Hyunjin was really uncomfortable however, to his daughters, he could not say anything.
Both girls ended up falling asleep, Yennie on Hyunjin's right arm, and Mina on his left.

"That seems uncomfy" spoke Chan all of a sudden.

"It doesn't really matter" Hyunjin responded

"Do you want me to help you carry them back inside?" Chan said while standing and putting his beer down on the plastic outdoor table.

"No it's alright"

"Here" Chan started picking up Mina, one hand hooked under her small, fragile knees, and one hooking her shoulders.
Hyunjin stood, carrying Yennie the same way, leading their way into the apartment and into his and the girls' room.
Once there, he set Yennie down on her bed, and pointed to Mina's bed signaling for Chan to set Mina down there. Which he did.

They both stood looking at the girls sleep.

"They look cute" he said, "they look so peaceful" he chuckled, "I want to have kids one day"
Hyunjin chuckled.

"How do you want to have children when you don't have a stable relationship, and you're constant sleeping with random people? Actually I wouldn't be surprised if you already have children but just don't know it. I mean, you've slept with many people, so there is a high probability that you're a father except you don't know it." Hyunjin said with quite a lot of sarcasm, and he was shocked. What had gotten into him? This didn't seem like him. Randomly lashing out at someone was odd for him.

"Actually, I have a girlfriend as of now. We've been stable for some time."
"Oh really? How long? I bet it hasn't even been a week."
"It's actually been two weeks" Chan said, and he looked sort of proud, with a grin.
"I'm actually surprised. But not to be rude or anything, but I'm sure it won't last for long. I mean, I did hear you yesterday at the bar. And you definitely were not looking at my ass and talking about it with Changbin. Oh! And you most definitely were also NOT looking at girls while they were  dancing." He chuckled. He knew that after this power statement, Chan wouldn't be able to defend himself.

Chan sighed, "well, to be completely honest, I don't like my current 'girlfriend'" he air quoted 'girlfriend', "I've never liked her but I know she likes me, and I kind of want to change for the better. So I got into a relationship with her. Even if it isn't real, I just want to feel what it's like to be committed to something."

"Oh."

Silence.

"Anywayyysss.... I'm gonna head back outside, so don't be a creep and stay here standing looking at my daughters while they sleep because that's weird."

Hyunjin went back outside and Chan followed.
