A/N: I was a bit reluctant to add Herobrine here, but I had a feeling that he does belong in the Creepypasta community and I know where he will fit in my Creepypasta universe, despite my little disposition for the Minecraft community. The story of Herobrine had a lot of potential, but it didn't go anywhere, especially since it is perfectly clear that Notch does not have a brother, dead or otherwise. so I took some advice from a review of the pasta. I want to make the story feel like a video game urban legend, the type that will make you want to look for Herobrine and have fun while doing it. Enjoy!

I had recently spawned a new world in single-player Minecraft. Everything was normal at first as I began chopping down trees, crafting a workbench, and building a house.

After a while, I decided to kill some time by exploring the world. As I wandered aimlessly, I saw things that seemed out of place for the random map generator to make: 2x2 tunnels in the rocks, small perfect pyramids made of sand in the ocean, and groves of trees with all their leaves cut off.

Eventually, I got lost and I tried to find my way back home. As I was walking, I noticed something move amongst the dense fog (I have a very slow computer, so I have to play with a tiny render distance). I couldn't make out what it was, so I stepped closer to take a better look.

What I saw made me blink in disbelief. Looking back at me was another character with the default skin, but his eyes were empty. I saw no name pop up, and I double-checked to make sure I wasn't in multiplayer mode. He didn't stay long, he looked at me and quickly ran into the fog, so I pursued out of curiosity. I didn't look where I was going, and my heart sank when I saw how I fell into a hole that was deep enough to kill me. The hole I fell in wasn't a cave or anything like that, it led straight down, obviously dug by someone.

I would constantly think I saw the other "player" in the deep fog, but I never got a better look at him. I tried my best to avoid the other traps, and even increased my render distance to far whenever I thought I saw him, but to no avail.

I saved the map and went on the forums to see if anyone else had found the pseudo-player. I actually did manage to find some, but there were very few. Their worlds were littered with obviously man-made features as well and described their mystery player to have no pupils. For a while, I thought this was something added by the developers as an easter egg or a joke that no one gets or something like that.

The users named this mystery player "Herobrine". I didn't know why they called him that at the time, but then I found a post that led to the Steam account of a Swedish gamer who had the name of the mysterious player.

Sure enough, I was led to Herobrine's account and had the face of the mysterious player as a profile picture, but then I saw something very unusual: it said that Herobrine hasn't logged on for years. No one knows where he is now, or even if he's still alive.

I haven't seen the mystery man since our first encounter, and I haven't noticed any changes to any world other than the one I described. I was able to press 'print screen' when I first saw him. Here's the only evidence of his existence:
