Silence overtook the cabin and minutes seemed to drift into hours as the siblings waited in bated silence. Awaiting the teens they would spend a large portion of their life with. The ones who were their only help in the battle of life and death, presumably. It hadn't exactly been explained after all.
Arianna's eyes flitted upward as the sound of a helicopter landing filled their ears. Kale blinked in faint surprise as the door flung itself open, letting in unexpected sunshine. Two figures came in before the door was slammed shut once again.
It was a boy and a girl, it was following an order so far. One of each gender, who knows how long it'll stay in that patterns. Patterns are safety to the siblings, it doesn't look like safety will be a frequent visitor.
The pairs stared at each other, the new pair appeared to know each other. Or at least, Arianna presumed they did, judging the way they stood together. Perhaps good friends.
Kale finally thought it was reasonable to break the tense silence.
"Hello"
Arianna was almost surprised at the sound of her brother's voice. It felt like a while since she had heard it and a feeling of comfort fell over her.
"Hey"
The reply was quick but it wasn't as tense as before, the male of the new pair had spoken, his glassy green eyes judged the siblings where they sat.
Both girls remained silent, staying by the sides of their male companions.
"I'm Arianna"
She finally spoke up, the silence was becoming chokingly dense so it was the time to break it.
"Dio"
The girl of the new pair finally spoke up, shimmering eyes that appeared to be a shade of red looked up to meet Arianna's mossy green ones. Dio's eyes were probably actually brown but that cold sheen in them, the fire in her eyes made them seem unmistakably red.Arianna couldn't keep eye contact with the girl, her gaze flickered to the floor within seconds, the dark gaze of Dio being too much for her to handle in her emotionally weak state.
The two boys tried to pick up the conversation to avoid sinking back into silence.
"I'm Kale"
"Steven"
The names were offered up in a hesitant manner, Steven's voice was stronger than Kale's and had a more developed tone, he sounded... older, despite the fact they appeared the same age.
Steven brushed a hand through his chocolate brown hair and stared at the floor. The room drifted into silence, waiting once again.
