Currently, The Armed Detective Agency had several projects and assignments on the table. Every one had put these assignments to the side choosing not to do them until the very last second. Ranpo was the childish one of the group and he was also the one who was known to procrastinate the most. He was also allowed as much littlespace time as needed, so he seemed to always have quite the excuse. Kunikida had too much work on his plate, picking up the slack for the unfinished of Ranpo. Kunikida’s hands were full often as well. Everyone seemed to have some sort of an excuse to avoid these assignments as much as possible. Dazai’s excuse?

He didn’t want to be away from Akutagawa. As far as anyone knew, Ryuunosuke wasn’t a little, so Osamu wasn’t let off the hook so easily. The duo haired male had extremely terrible separation anxiety and was more clingy to Dazai then a magnet to metal. Of course the small male wouldn’t admit it. He was always on the same room as the brunette though, and often tried to be discrete about following him around. Dazai even brought him to work to help with paperwork often but he never took him on missions or any assignments outside of the building. He knew Aku had experienced enough trauma during the Port Mafia before it disbanded. The emo had nowhere else to go and didn’t know anyone else to ask besides Dazai. Kunikida wasn’t a big fan of the whole idea, but no matter what he said, Aku was staying regardless. His sister, Gin, stayed with her girlfriend, Higuchi and the blonde was still quite a bit salty about the male rejecting her. Anybody else was out of the question. Dazai would never say it aloud, but the way his heart hurt just by seeing a trembling Akutagawa at his door was enough to nearly bring him to tears. After a week or so, Dazai noticed his terrible eating habits and poor sleep schedule. Doppo had noticed too but didn’t have much to say about it, knowing Dazai was already stressing over it enough as it was. Thus, Dazai had to force him to start eating more and he always made him lay down earlier, hoping he’d grow to have a more healthy sleep schedule. Even so, he’d check on him throughout the night, finding him still awake or find him trying to calm himself down from a small fit. The first time Dazai caught him crying, he awkwardly sat with him, trying to calm him down as well as fight the urge to pull him into his lap right then and there and kiss all the hurt away. Dazai knew Aku wanted a hug, and he’d even turn to try to hug him a few times but not once did he really go through with it. Eventually the brunette opened his arms and the duo haired male only looked up at him, his tear filled eyes only seemed to get worse. As the flood finally poured down his face, he stood up, pushing Dazai towards the door. “Go…” he whispered in a sob. Dazai finally wrapped his arm around the sobbing male, holding the back of his head with his free hand. He bent down a bit, picking up the pale boy. As soon as Akutagawa’s face met Dazai’s shoulder, the bawling began. “I just….I don’t….I’m just so….I can’t”  the smaller male couldn’t piece a proper sentence together. “shhhh, it’s okay…just breathe” Never having had a real hug Akutagawa wasn’t 100 percent if he was returning the affection correctly. He knew he wasn’t supposed to have his legs wrapped around his waist, but he just felt inclined to do so. This wasn’t the best hug he’d ever received, but Dazai happily excepted it, gently running his fingers through he distressed male’s hair. “I don’t mean to…I didn’t…I’m sor- sorry” Dazai’s heart melted as those words passed to the duo-haired male’s lips.

“No, no, no! There’s no reason to be sorry baby boy”

Akutagawa’s whole body went all fuzzy and warm as the nickname accidentally slipped from the caregiver’s mouth. Without thinking about it, the crying, trembling boy, face now moved Dazai’s shoulde, innocently asked. “….again…?” Dazai tilted his head a bit, confused by what the distressed boy was trying to ask him, still not realizing what he’d said. Akutagawa’s whole body tensed up after this, getting down from Dazai’s hold, breaking the eye contact with hesiation. The brunette sadly let him go, and released from the hug. As soon as he moved his last finger from the shorter male’s reach, the tears started all over again. This time, Osamu was successfully pushed and locked out of the room. “A-Aku!” he immediately turned around, knocking on the door to be let back in. After that night, Akutagawa always left his door locked and Dazai has since then had to suffer through listening to the other male’s sobs, not able to help. The blonde would wake up early sometimes, finding Osamu sleeping at Aku’s door, waiting for their roommate to stop crying. Kunikida couldn’t just let him lay there. Waking the brunette for a moment, Doppo always carries his boyfriend back to bed.
