The dress is undoubtedly Versace's most well-known creation, and it is often credited with propelling Hurley into the worldwide media spotlight.
Black silk and lycra were used to make the outfit. It had a plunging neckline, slimline straps, and cut-away sides held together by one gold Medusa's head safety pin above the bust and six strategically positioned safety pins down the bodice.
The dress was reported to be punk-inspired and "emerged from the sari," according to Gianni Versace.
