Though Jace had made tremendous progress with his magic, or so Jace thought, Sorin, kept urging Jace to be better. Jace was quite annoyed at Sorin but was proud that he could do at least something magical.
He was getting better every day at doing Flame blade, even though he tried to do other pieces of magic. He learnt a few other things about magic too. Sorin had sat down and taught Jace about the circles of magic, and how having diversity in them is better.
There were 4 fields of magic. Abjuration, Divination, Conjuration, and evocation. There was a fifth, Divine magic, but most magic users don't like to include it as only those who are born blessed by a god can use it, and the magic in it that one can use it based purely on what God has blessed them.
Elemental magic came under evocation, but some forms of it come under conjuration and abjuration. Divination can only be done by wizards with lifetimes of practice and wisdom, and Mageknights never dabble in it. Mageknights mostly use elemental magic or magic tied to elemental magic in some way.
Elemental magic is again split into 4 circles: fire water earth and air. Some Mageknights focused completely in one circle, but Sorin advised against it. It made a Mageknight too situational, and unable to adapt to different situations.
So Jace, proud with his sword-fighting abilities and magic which were both getting stronger by the day, didn't see the next few weeks whizz by until Sorin told him to pack his bags.
