Madelynn tried to slip past the angered adults.
They were literally fuming.
"So I hear you had a test yesterday?"
Schoolwork was all they cared about.
She nodded.
"Why didn't you tell us? We could have helped you become less of a failure!"
This was Jacques.
"S-sorry."
"I DON'T WANT APOLOGIES! GO DO SOMETHING USEFUL NOW!"
The sink was filling up.
Quickly.
She made a dash for her attic room.
The girl quickly stripped her clothes off and put on a large t-shirt and shorts.
She moved the bed skirt and looked under her bed and pulled out a small canvas as well as a waterbrush (I FINALLY GOT ONE!) and crayons.
She dipped her brush in the black and started painting.
Simple strokes.
Several simple strokes.
Several simple strokes everywhere.
She saw tear droplets fall onto her canvas, ruining the serenity of the paining.
She screamed.
Nothing was going right.
Madelynn's phone started to buzz and she picked it up.
It was a text.
She didn't text much at all.
It was from Elliot.
And then she felt something new.
Her heart skipped a beat and she suddenly was very eager to open the message.
"I hope you didn't get in much trouble.
Hang in there Leaf.
-Eli"
Trouble?
Of course she would get into trouble.
She was yelled at for no reason at times.
She hit the reply button.
"It doesn't matter."
Auto-response.
She changed her clothes and hid under her blanket, playing Ace Enders' soothing voice as a new message came up.
"You will always matter.
I need to go.
Hang in there.
-Eli."
Madelynn didn't respond.
She emerged from her blankets and found some magazines to start her collage.
