"There must be some sort of mistake here. Mads, we raised you right" my dad said
"You... you did"
"Dad don't do this" Isaac said
"When you were about five years old, i took you to an Indians game. All the other dads brought their sons, but my little girl was enough for me"
"Dad" i said, my heart stammering against my chest
"Most made it through the game, but you fell asleep in my lap. I kept hoping nothing exciting would happen, 'cause i didn't want the crowd to get too loud- ... wake you up. Didn't matter. You stayed asleep in my arms till the game ended" Lahey said
"Dad, i'm so sorry" tears ran down my cheeks, my palms becoming sweaty.
"You need to leave" my dad said with a sigh, he pointed to Brett
"Wait. Please, Dad can we talk about this? Brett is a good guy. He loves me" i grabbed hold on Brett's arm to make sure he didn't move.
"You too. Get out of my house." Lahey said turning to me. My heart sunk to my stomach, my own dad kicking me out.
"You can't do that. She didn't do anything wrong. Please, Isaac do something" Brett said getting annoyed and guilty about this whole situation.
"Don't bother, Brett" my eye sight becoming blurry as i looked between my dad and brother "if he wanted to do something, he would've when he found out i was pregnant" i said
My dad turned towards my brother, anger written all over his face "you knew?"
"I- no. She didn't tell me anything" Isaac defended
"But you knew. And i needed you. I needed my brother. And you were so scared of what he would do if he found out, you just pushed it aside like we do every bad feeling in this house. If you don't talk about it, it doesn't exist" i said, feeling betrayed. I knew Brett could read my chemo-signals when he grabbed my hand. My brother could aswell but yet wouldn't make eye contact with me.
"Now do not turn this on us! You are the disappointment here!" My dad jumped up, shouting in my face and pointing fingers.
"Why? because i'm not a little girl anymore? Because i made a mistake?" i said standing up myself, my voice becoming soft.
"Who are you? I don't recognise you at all." my dad said
"I'm your daughter" i said to my dad "i'm your sister" turning to my brother "who loves both of you. And who knows this must be really hard for you, but i just need my dad and brother to hold me, and tell me that it's going to be okay. Please" i began sobbing, my heart ached
"Isaac!" my dad shouted
Satomi's pack house
"Hey Brett, how many times have i told you, you gotta turn these t-shirts right side out before..." Satomi's voice trailed off as she turned around. Brett with his hands overlapped infront of himself, me with red puffy eyes, tears still dripping from the corner of my eyes.
"Um.. Satomi, Maddi's dad threw her out. Could she stay here for a couple of days?" Brett said to his alpha. I was worried that she would turn me away too, no one left to help me and defending for myself.
"Yeah, of course she can." she turned to me "Honey, you can stay here as long as you want"
I gave her a small smile "Thank you Satomi, it means a lot" i said wiping my tears away with the back of my hand
She comes up to me and hugs me. Brett following suit.
This is the time i realise that i'm happy. I have people who are supportive of me and will help me through this mess. And i'm so honoured.
