Chapter Four: Comfort Huening

JULY 15th

Dear grandmother,

here is the last few days. I met a boy named Huening Kai on a bus, met with my father, then met Huening Kai again at a flower shop to buy you flowers, before meeting him again at a cafe, we kissed well kinda he kissed my nose.

Love Mylee

she closed her journal getting up from the tree she was sitting next to. running back to her car that was probably 1 mile away parked at a flower shop.

the heavy rain made her remember the night December 31 two years ago. having to break up with her boyfriend due to wanting two different things in life. she had to let him go for his happiness. she knew she would be breaking his heart but in the long run he would be much happier with someone else who wasn't her. even if it meant to be in more pain than him. one of the most painful times in her history a day she will never forget and will always regret.

a male stopped her tracks and stopped her thoughts. looking up at him face to face with Huening Kai smiling brightly. holding an umbrella over her head. "come on!" he said, taking her hand in his bigger one.

dragging her to a convent store that was nearby that is open 24 hours. he bought her a soda that she chose and her favorite snacks he remembered her talking about while on the bus. she was slowly becoming happier by spending time with Huening Kai.

she gets a call that makes her happiness drown from her face and drops everything running to her car. "you clumsy idiot! you could have died!" she yelled busting through the door of the hospital room. seeing her mother laying on the hospital bed many wires connected to her. tears forming in her eyes.

she knew she should have never left town for the sake of her mother. she hugged her mother "I can't lose you.." she said tears were slipping. her mother patted her head "you were gone for so long I searched up and down for you." her mother whispered.

she sighed standing up from the chair she has been sitting in four the past 2 hours. her mother finally convinced her to get a snack from the vending machine. her mother begged her to go home and get rest but she refused to leave her mother's side.

once getting chips she saw a male sitting in the chair that she was once sitting in. "I promise." he said. her mother smiled and handed him something. she made it out to be a box of some kind.

"huening kai?" she asked, walking into the room. "w-what are you doing here?" she asked. his eyes left her mother and to her. "o-oh you ran off so suddenly so I followed you here to comfort you." he said his face becoming red. "o-oh well I'm fine you can just go back home."

"you know you shouldn't eat only food from machines." he said ignoring your comment about going home. he was no where near going home. he wasn't ever thinking about home. "I will actually go buy you something from a real restaurant." he said standing up saying his goodbyes to her mother and taking away the chips from her.

"I'm glad you have someone who cares about you." her mother said.

"here." huening kai said while handing you a soda. "thanks." she replied. letting the wind blow in her hair. they looked down at the empty roads brightened up by the street lights. it was getting cold on the rooftop but it was too beautiful to leave. many bright stars making constellations in the dark sky. the moon is full and bright.

Huening Kai noticed the cold girl taking off his jacket he bought and put it around her. "I don't know how anyone could leave you." Huening Kai said, connecting their hands together.
