As I walked away, I thought about Robert.
Flashback to April 6th 2010
The new kid that was supposed to be going into second grade had just walked into class. His name was Robert, and I could already see Gavin eyeing him, ready to bully. At the time, Gavin bullied people by himself, everyone really scared of him. Even his future bully friends were bullied by him. So when a new kid came, he was no exception. I don't know what happened to Gavin, but in Kindergarten, when he first came, he was happy, and not a bully like everyone else. Then the next year, after summer break when he came back, he became a bully. Like I said, I'm not sure what happened. But during that moment I felt like I needed to do something. So I told the new kid to sit next to me. Well, I gestured to him, then to the seat next to me. Why I did this, I still don't know, but it just felt right. Like I was doing something good. I managed to ignore the glare that Gavin was giving me. He pointed a fist tworward me. "How Romantic" I thought sarcastically. Then I gave the new kid a smile before sitting down and looking up at the white board.
-End of flashback-
I smiled at the memory. It was almost like what had happened today, in class. Speaking of which, I think that Gavin forgot his punishment for me that was due to me being nice. Which is good. As I was thinking, I bumped into the new kid. "Oh... uh hi," he stumbled.
I waved. "Hi!" That probably made me seem very quirky. Oh well.
He stammered, "Th...thanks for letting me sit with you, uh, during class, uh... yeah."
He's starting to sound like me. I have a feeling we'll be best friends.
"So what's your name?" I asked.
"Robert," he replied.
"..." I froze.
"Hmmm?"
I smiled weakly. I guess Robert is a really popular name for new kids that I invite to
sit next to me.
"What's your name?" He asked. Oh yeah, he didn't even know my name.
"Aiden, and I'm not one of those bullies," I paused. Well maybe pretending to be one of those bullies doesn't mean I'm a bully.
"Ok, uh see you later than?" Robert's voice jerked me out of my thoughts.
I stuttered, "b-bye."He walked away. I sighed and sat down on the old and rusty bench to begin my homework. Diameter is 14. Radius is 7. R2 x π = area of circle. Oh my god I'm so smar-
Someone tapped me on the shoulder. I groaned, expecting it to be Gavin bullying me. Then I remembered he thinks I'm part of his gang now. I turned around to see Gavin's stupid goons.
"What?" I asked.
"We joined for the same reason," goon #1 said.
"?" I'm confused.
"We also joined because we wanted to stop being bullied. Now Gavin doesn't bully us, but bullying other people sucks," goon#3 supplied.
"That's not why I joined?" It came out more like a question. The goons exchanged a look that looked like a uh-oh.
"Look, uh... Why did you join then?" goon #4 looked kinda scared.
"Because uhhhh... " I tried to think of a lie. I almost facepalmed. "Because I'm a bully now?"
'Isn't that the lie you told Gavin?"
"Tell us the truth."
"We won't tell Gavin."
"You know us acting dumb is all an act right?"
I don't know why, but I told them. "Because... well in the hall I heard you guys talking about murder and... and... and suspicon and very suspicous things. So I pretended to be a bully so I can talk to you guys and see if I can find evidence to get you... get you put in jail. Oh my god why am I telling you things right now... Oh why am I so-"
"Wait. So you think we murdered?"
"Robert. You guys murdered Robert." I frowned.
"But here me out. What if we didn't?" one of the goons said.
"Well... uh, well I don't have to. Because it's not true. You did it. I should be calling the cops right now," I stated.
"Ever heard of pretending?" One of the goons asked.
