The Bad Boy Games (Karma’s a B*tch)

By: Dani Love

I may be a good actress; in fact, I’m probably the greatest actress to ever run the streets of Detroit-my home town, (It was a really small town in Texas, but still.) but not even I could pretend I was looking forward to the move.  I didn’t want to go to some dolled up school in the middle of the west coast in California.  I don’t care how awesome Katy Perry made it seem, there is no way I’m getting in that car to drive to some stinking’ airport so I can be stuck in some death machine of an airplane for two hours, just so I can move in with my REAL dad's sister and her son and go to some school filled with blonde sluts, and stupid jerks that probably have the G.P.A. of my dog!  It’s just not happening!  I’ve lived here my whole life, my friends are here, my boyfriend is here, my life is here!   I won’t give up my life just because my step dad thinks there school system is better than ours! It’s not fair! Funny how one moment you're on top of the world, the next your aunt is calling about how she would really like it if Quinton would move in with her, but they decided they'd do one better.

Devin, my step dad, decided he'd send me down there.

“Karma! Karma Mom wants you!”

I glared at my ceiling, not willing to move, praying the annoying rascal that I call my older brother would disappear.

“Karma,” Trince yelled again, his voice laced in impatience. “Karma, mom wants you to come here!’

“I’M COMING!” I shout, mumbling a few choice words directed at him.

“You do realize I can hear you right?” Trince stood in my door way, arms crossed, eye brows raised.

“Oh, and F-Y-I, I’m not a ‘stupid, little fat headed rascal,'" he snickered, “And even if mom did allow you too strangle me, there’s no way that would ever happen.”

So he had heard the curse words directed at him.

I rolled my eyes; reluctantly I forced myself to get out of my bed. I shoved him out the way as I made it downstairs to find my mom in the living room sitting on the couch with Mrs. Natalie, her best friend.

“Hi Mrs. Natalie, hi Mom. You wanted me?”

My mom motioned for me to sit by her. She took a sip of her coffee, making a face when she burnt her tongue.

“Darn that’s hot,” she mumbled, “Anyways I was just telling Natalie about how you’re going to Lake Side High School, and guess what? Natalie used to go there! She was telling me all about how she used to be a cheer leader there, isn’t that exciting? Maybe you could be a cheerleader there too! She told me it was an amazing school, you’re sure to love it!”

I internally groaned, stopping myself from rolling my eyes.

“Maybe she could go instead of me,” I mumbled under my breath, burning holes into the carpet with my eyes.

“What did you say?” My mom asked, her friendly demeanor dropping.

“N-Nothing, just that there might still be pictures of Natalie and her cheerleading team at the school,” I fished, trying desperately to fix my mistake.
