Days and days past, Amara refusing to leave her mother's side until all her family had given up on prying her fingers away from the cold limp hand. After a week of not eating and not sleeping her mind finally became clearer than it had been in days: 'I am falling into the same whole my mother slipped into'. With that thought Amara bolted from the room and stumbled over to her siblings, falling to her knees.
"Please forgive me, I haven't helped you at all these past few days." And reluctantly her relations forgave her. This alone was a great feat for Amara as the weight of the grief pulled her down. She acted as though everything was fine, but it so clearly wasn't. When she passed people on the street she no longer said hello, no longer smiled at them. It was as if a large chunk had been ripped from her heart: she was missing a piece of herself.
