'oh come on kriti, milne na usse.' Dushyant cried impatiently.
'yaar maine kaha na main free nahi hoon, aapko samajh kyun nahi aa raha hai!' yelled back an annoyed kriti.
'acha, tu apne friends ko bolale aur uske saath Elena ko bolale na, waise bhi uski nani keh toh rahi thi, ki ghulti milti nahi hai woh...uske liye acha hoga.' Suggested dushyant.
'acha thik hai! Maan li aapki baat! Bhagwaan jaane kyun itne utawle ho rakhe ho ki apni friends kar bolalon, waise toh jab bhi puche ne jaaon nani se toh cheekne lag jaate ho..'
'yaar tujhe ek kaam kaha hai maine, usmein bhi itna drama kar rahi hai..' scolded dushyant
'you know what, hum jhagdon se bachne ke liye yahan aaye the, jhagda karne ke liye nahi..'
'jhagda tu kar rahi hai, main nahi..'
'aapse ne baat hi karna bekar hai, nani! Mujhe bhook lagi hai!' said kriti as she exited. Dushyant sighed in relief, he was really happy he succeeded.Suddenly, he got a call on his phone, he received it as he said,
'hello.'
'kya be saale, do haftee ho gaye, koi phone nahi, koi message nahi, sharam nahi aati tujhe.'
'arre kavin, bas yahan time hi nahi mila.'
'hmm, dhang ka bahana bhi nahi soch sakta mere liye tu...bas itni hi ahemiyat hai meri, teri life mein.'
'abbe sach keh raha hoon yaar, ek moment nahi beeta yahan jab mujhe teri yaad na aayi hoon.'
'arre yahan bhi pucho mat, dad ke best friend ki death ho gayi hai. I feel bad for the poor girl, she lost her father, man! Ab chahiye mujhe dad se kitni bhi chid machti hoon, i can't imagine him...'
'sahi mein yaar, ab mujhe dekh lo, papa zinda hai bas humare saath rehna hi chahte...' said dushyant as a tear escaped his eye.
'dush, yaar, aise dukhi mat ho. You know na it's not your fault..'
'hmm, ofc...'
'bhai, i wish main tere saath hota..'
'ik yaar, it's fine, main think hoon.'
'kahan thik hai tu? Kal mummy ne aunty se baat kari, maine sunna ki tu har dusre din ladaiyaan shuru kardeta hai, akela baitha rehta chup-chap...yaar dush, don't punish yourself.'
'kal woh purvi woh bhi aise hi apne aapko blame kare jaa rahi thi, maine bhi suna diya yaar, par ab bahaut bura lag raha hai..'
dushyant chuckled at his friend as he replied, 'toh bheje nahi apne trademark charm waale sorry messages..'
'bheja tha yaar, par ab na main in person hi jaunga, soch raha hoon kuch le jaaon saath mein, par samajh nahi aa raha kya.'
'follow your heart, it'll know ,trust me.' Said dushyant as he had already sensed the feelings of love that were blossoming.
'acha rakhta hoon, bye!'
'bye!'
he kept his phone aside, when he heard a doorbell.
'abhi kaun aa gaya?' dushyant thought as he went to open the door, only to find that his nani had already did so and oh boy, it was Elena.
'arre yeh anuradha bhi na, chalo acha hai Elena toh le aayi yeh, andar aana!'
'arre nahi woh main...'
'arre yeh woh kuch nahi, andar aa' as Elena was pulled in, dushyant was commanded, 'arre shakal kya dekh raha hai iski, jaa jakar roh-afzaa lekar aa iski liye!' dushyant nodded obediently as he left to get roh-afza for Elena, for the first time he found himself making it with so much care and thought, he was just surprising himself when it came to her.
'yeh lijiye.' He served it to her with all the charm he could possibly pull of at that moment, as Elena took a sip, he couldn't control himself to ask,
'kaisa bana hai?'
'acha hai.' Elena smiled at him as she went for another sip. Suddenly, they were interrupted by another friend of dushyant's nani, 'arre jaldi aana saroj, kuch dekha na hai tujhe.'
'arre aye, ruk! Beta ek second ruko hain.' Nani left leaving a huge smile on dushyant's face,
'hi, umm, I'm dushyant.'
'elena.'
'woh toh mujhe ab pata chal hi gaya, bas aapko bata na zaroori tha mera naam namaqool nahi hai...'
'acha naam hai aapka ...' said Elena with a giggle.
'aapka naam bhi bahaut acha hai...uhh, woh actually main yahan chutiyon ke liye aaya tha, aap bhi...'
'nahi, main saalon se nani ke saath hi reh rahi hoon.' Elena said with a faded smile.
'i'm sorry, agar, maine—kuch...'
'nahi, it's ok...actually, mere parents nahi hai-iss duniya mein. Par nani mujhe bahaut pyaar karti hain...'
'sach batao toh main toh sirf yahan isiliye hoon kyunki mere mom aur dad ke jhagde bad gaye hain, divorce ke kaaran...' he tried, but he couldn't hold himself together, and Elena seeing it, just hugged him to his surprise.
'don't worry, sab thik ho jaayega.' She said in the hug, and even though dushyant had heard it so many times now, it was the first time he believed it. As she got out of the hug, she had a genuinely loving and sympathetic smile on her face. He wished time could just stop and he could just be with her like this...Meanwhile, purvi was finding something in her room and the room was in a serious mess.
'yeh assignment kahan mar jata hai due date se pehle.' She grumbled as she looked through her drawer, only to find a tiny little teddy bear with a heart that said, i'm sorry. A smile came on purvi's face as she remembered the day kavin gave it to her.flashback:
she was sitting by her window as she mourned with the rain, she thought how she mocked the ideas of such clichés, but now they seem so comforting.
'purvi?'
'haan ma!'
'beta khaana khalo!'
'nahi maa, man nahi hai.' Her mother understood her daughter, who was trying so hard to stay strong, she decided to let her grieve as she left. Suddenly, purvi's gaze fell on a guy outside right in front of their front door, as he signalled her to come down. She didn't want, she was mad at him, how dare he talk to her like that yesterday! She shook her head in no, as she looked elsewhere, but a part of her just couldn't ignore him, he was standing in the rain, she'll just go down and ask him to leave, that's what she thought.
only when she opened the door and saw the little teddy bear in his hand, her gaze moved up to his earnestly guilty eyes, with one hand pulling his ear in apology. She smiled as she looked at him, it's the first time in these days that an "i'm sorry" didn't make her feel pitied, but coming from a genuine place.
'dobara yeh nauabat nahi aani chahiye' said purvi while accepting the teddy bear.
'bilkul, bilkul...' said kavin as if he was a kid whose mom had brought him a toy with a condition that he would get good grades. She couldn't help but chuckle at him, the guy had a good heart.
'aapse ek question puchon?'
'hmm.'
'bura mat manna..'
'bolo na..'
'kya aap mujhse friendship karengi?'
purvi nodded in a yes as a huge smile came on his face, and she reciprocated it.'i love you kavin.' thought purvi as she fondly remembered it, and came back to earth to get to finding her assignment, but with a better mood.
