Purvi returned home from college exhausted, as it seemed like there could be no break for her in the entire day. Her sight was set on her bedroom where she would just relax and breathe for a second, she really did deserve a break after that long a day. But surprise for her, opening the door accompanied a scream,
'surprise!'
Purvi stood there like a statue, in awe of the transformation that her room went through, as kavin walked up to her to bring her back to earth.
'purvi?' he called her name softly as he shook her arm.
'huh?' she said as he successfully brought her back to earth.
'so, do you like it?' asked kavin, as purvi gazed at the room decorated with fairylights, balloons, and her favourite chocolate cake, waiting for her on her bed.
'this is...it's awesome!' she said as she let out a huge smile as her emotions had overwhelmed her, she just simply hugged him.
He too tightened his embrace around her, seeing her happy just gave him this unexplainable peace. But they separated as she looked up to him, and he signalled her to cut the cake, and she nodded gladly.
She cut the cake, as she fed a piece to him, and he applied the creamy layer of the cake on her cheek with his thumb, only to get a death glare from her that would cause him to run and her to chase him.
She finally caught hold of him as she was applying the cream all over his face, despite of all of kavin's revolts, and for them to just burst out in laughter, only for them to realise upon looking up that purvi's mother had witnessed all of this and she wasn't happy...
Dushyant walked around the graveyard, he could never muster the courage to. His sight fell onto her grave, and the inevitable horror that ran through his body along with all of his guilt, as he sat on his knees and read the name Elena, still so hard to accept after all this time.
The sky was dark at the time of nightfall, he never thought how this moment would be so symbolic when it would happen. He looked down as tears had start to roll down his eyes, and before he knew it, he was venting all these years of grief out.
'i am-so-sorrrryy!' he said as his voice chocked.
It took a few seconds for him to calm down, but the tears still found their way from his moist eyes, as he placed that copy of Anna Karenina on the grave, the one he took as something to remember her by from her house.
'woh din aaj bhi itna dard deta hai yaad aane par, tumhe pyaar karna ek sazaa sa ban gaya hai, jismein bas, guilt hai, pain hai, aur pyaar toh bas, kho gaya hai kahin...' he confessed, brushing his hand across the book.
'par mujhe dobara pyaar mila hai kisi ke liye, Elena...aur main guilty nahi feel karna chahta ab, mere paas himmat hi nahi bachi hai...' he continued, as he brushed his tear away.
'main nahi pyaar karsakta tumse, kyunki yeh guilt mujhse galtiyan karwayega aur, iss baar galti ke baad ka dard shayad, main jhel hi na paon.' He let out a huge sigh, as he looked up,
'i have to let you go Elena...' he stated as he got up, and took a last glance at her name on the grave and the title of the book,
'goodbye...' he said as he walked away.
a few years later...
'ohmmm, manglam, bhgawan Vishnu...' said the priest as purvi and kavin sat on a mandap as the bride and the groom.
A tear escaped purvi's mother's eye, as a smile crept up too, this might have been the happiest day of her life, right next to the day purvi was born.
Ishita smiled fondly remembering the times when they both used to play ghar-ghar in their childhood, and here her best friend was getting married.
Dushyant just gazed at kavin in awe, it felt like they were just kids yesterday...
The most dreaded part came, vidaayi. Purvi just cried her heart out in her mother's embrace and composed herself after separating in a few seconds, but it was comforting to know that she was going away with the love of her life.
Ishita rested her head on dushyant's shoulder as they watched their friends leave for a new chapter in their lives.
'i am so happy for them...' remarked ishita, as dushyant averted his gaze to her.
'hum bhi unhe mauka de sakte hain humare liye khush honeka...' replied dushyant nonchalantly, as ishita separated from him to look up to him.
'are you serious?' she exclaimed in shock, as he nodded in agreement, and bent down on his knee, for her to just gasp in shock.
'ishita...' he said with a smile.
'oh my god!' she exclaimed in a happy panic.
'will you..'
'yes...'
'marry me?' he said with an uncontrollable chuckle.
She nodded in utter joy, as they hugged each other.
'i love you.' he said.
'i love you too.' she replied.
