The first day of school after the Summer break had finally arrived. Rinse couldn't possibly be more excited with the prospect as she combed her hair and got dressed back up into her uniform. It had been too long since was able to enjoy looking like a school girl. More importantly, there was to be a major event coming up that would encapsulate the entire school.
The culture festival. There were going to be so many fun events and attractions that led the girl to wondering what creative ideas were going to be put out in action. She was most excited of all to what her own class was going to think of. This was going to be so much fun, even with all the homework and exams they had it didn't matter to her.
As per usual during her busy mornings. The girl only had time to grab a piece of bread and spread some jam on the top of it before departing from her house. However, the unusual began the moment she stepped out the door.
"It's weird to see you just waiting out here." She greeted Ishi, who was standing in front of the gate to his house next to his cousin, Koto. "Guess you're just as happy to get back to school as I am."
"It's not that." Koto responded. While the younger boy was excited for his first day as a transfer student, the older one didn't' share in the enthusiasm. "We're waiting for someone."
"Yeah, and if you don't want to wait, then you're free to leave without us." Ishi would've loved nothing more than to be rid of her. However, Rinse was having none of it.
"You can't get rid of me that easily." She stood her ground. "The three of us literally have the same route to school. So I'm staying here until you decide to head out."
"Looks like we're about to." He replied, getting up from leaning on the fence. "Good morning Youna." When she turned herself to what was behind her, Rinse ended up being greeted with the sight of that girl again.
"What?" She was confused, shocked, and even a little upset about this. "But, I've never seen either of you walk to school together. When did this happen?"
"Remember that time when I told you my life doesn't revolve around you?" He repeated the last time he had to explain that to her. Just like last time, it also involved Youna, which led to a few suspicions from Rinse. Though she didn't make those thoughts public to the other three.
For some reason this was really starting to irritate her. Just what was it about that girl? She had to try so hard just to get him to do something. So why did Youna seem to get all those developments so easily? This was beginning to feel really unfair now.
Still she wasn't going to let that get her down. As they walked down the street towards the station, she took the chance to talk with him. Despite the presence of new people, it wasn't much of a challenge to get conversations because of her outgoing presence. After all, speaking to a crowd was no challenge to her, so one person was nothing.
"You looking forward to the cult-"
"No." He was quick to answer, even though she had yet to finish her question. Ishi was never one to care about major events. Last year wasn't anything special, and he didn't assume this one to be any different. Then the boy thought about the girl he was speaking with, and realized that this year was going to be insufferable.
The words of his classmates already echoed in his mind. Since they were the ones to have such a popular girl, there was certainly going to be some sort of fanservice centered around her. Along with it, he'd somehow get wrapped up in due to both his relationship with Rinse. As well as the fact that his teacher seemed bent on getting him to do more things. There was also Youna, who being the class rep, would have some responsibilities to do with the preparations. Then she'd also request some aid from him.
