After help from a friend, we are freed from our prison inside the armored car and escape before anyone notices. Thank you Hill for being so resourceful. We are given no information as to where we are going, but Steve assures is that we can trust her.
We are brought to an underground facility hidden from everything and everyone. We rush through the tunnels together as we quickly take Natasha to be treated. To our surprise, we find Nick Fury alive, although maybe not well. We are met by another person who I assume to be a doctor and he takes Natasha from him. He leads her over to an area with medical equipment and begins fixing her up while Fury explains how he faked his death and ended up here.

Meanwhile in a different part of town, Bucky is having his arm repaired as he sits, and watches flashes of his life come back. He reacts to a negative one and whips the repairman away from him as the guards around him draw their guns in defense. Just then, more people enter the facility as Bucky stares straight ahead, no acknowledgment given to anything that just occurred.
“mission report” a voice says
He is confused. He knew that man on the bridge but how. And why can he see colors now? He never realized how different the world would look with color. But why is he seeing it now? What did that girl do to him? A nagging thought comes to the back of his mind; he should know what it means, this change. It’s something important. But he can’t seem to pull it from his mind, this secret.
“Mission report now” the voice says again.
In the middle of his thoughts, a shock goes through him as he slapped across the face by a man standing in front of him. He must be the owner of the voice. He blinks a few times to shake the daze and looks at the man, asking “Who was that man on the bridge?”
The man in front of him hesitates for a moment then says, “You met him earlier on an assignment this week”
“I know him” Bucky says. He should tell them about the colors too. But no. Something tells him to keep quiet.
The man drolls on about doing another assignment, changing history, the same yadda yadda he keeps hearing. But Bucky isn’t really hearing him, what he’s saying. His only response is, “But I knew him”
The man walks away and says something to the scientist. Something about wiping him and starting over? They push him back into the chair and he obeys, allowing them to put the mouthguard in as the machine whirs to life. His breathing quickens as he knows what is about to happen. Then the pain starts.
_____________
The team is preparing for their full battle plan with Nick Fury.
I am more focused on what happened before, half listening. I found my soulmate. I never thought it would happen. Everyone is born seeing black and white and then when they meet their soulmate, both people see colors.
But why? Why is it him? Why is the enemy that they must take out? This person didn’t even seem to have any human left in him. So how?
I bite my lip, deep in my own thoughts. I feel as though I need to tell someone this happened. I usually tell Steve these things. I tell him everything. But the way he reacted on the bridge; I don’t think he can handle anymore intense news. This isn’t important right now – any kind of love life should be the last thing to worry about right now.
I sit in silence as a new plan is devised to shut down Hydra and save the world; again.

Once the meeting is over, I see Steve get up to leave. I follow him and stand at a distance while he clearly is lost in his own memories and thoughts, staring out at the lake beside the building.
Steve had told me stories about Bucky. I had to been to the memorial, all of it. I knew how important he was to Steve. But now to find him like this. To find he’s alive after so many years and now he’s the enemy. And now I have to go and get thrown into this mix to make it even more complicated and emotional. I blow out an exasperated breath upwards as it ruffles my hair. Steve is already going through so much just finding out his best friend isn’t dead. I am going to thoroughly forget and ignore what happened because no way can this be happening right now. I won't let it be a thing.
Sam walks past me with a nod and continues to Steve. I can hear bits of their conversation. Steve is determined to save Bucky, no matter the cost. I would follow Steve to end of the earth, but would his plan actually work? Or would he get himself killed trying to save his best friend?

“Charlie lock” I hear on my earpiece.
“Okay Cap get out of there” Maria responds to him as I listen to the silence.
“Fire now” Steve responds. I look at her, eyes wide with fear, and shake my head so hard my neck hurts.
“But Steve…” I say
“Do it! Do it now!” he shouts from the other line. I look at her and I can’t bring myself to do it. I turn away from the computers walk to the window. I hear the keyboard clicks behind me as I know she is following his orders. I stare at the scene before me with intense worry that even being the superhuman he is, Steve won’t be able to survive this. All three ships guns begin firing continuously on each other, blowing each of them up as I watch the pieces fall into the river.
Maria turns to stand beside me, a solemn expression on her face. All I can do is stare and stand helplessly, watcing the destruction. I watch it all until the last ship crashes to the ground totally destroyed. My heart aches. For all those lives lost; even if they were our enemies. For Steve. For that solider I met once that gave my world color.

We all stand under the shade of the trees, staring at a newly placed grave that reads “Nicholas Fury”. I hear footsteps and look over to see Nick Fury walking up to myself, Sam and Steve.
“So, you’ve experienced this sort of thing before” Fury asks.
“You get used to it” Steve replies.
“We’ve been datamining Hydra’s files. Looks like a lot of rats didn’t go down with the ship. I’m heading to Europe tonight. Wanted to ask if you’d come”
Oh yeah, Steve was fine after the crash. Though he told us everything that happened with him and Bucky in that fight. A part of the original man was still in there. Steve was more determined than ever to get to him and help him.
“There’s something I gotta do first” Steve responds. Fury turns to Sam and says, “How ‘bout you Wilson? I could use a man with your abilities.”
Sam shakes his head. “I’m more of a solider than a spy.” Fury finally turns to me. I smile but shake my head. “Where Steve goes, I go.”
“Alright then.” Fury final concedes. He shakes hands with all of us and says, “if anybody asks for me, tell them they can find me, right here.” as he motions to his grave.
“You should be honored that’s about as close as he gets to saying thank you.” I hear Natasha say to my right as Fury walks away. I see her with a folder in hand, knowing she must have been successful in what Steve asked of her.
“Not going with him?” Steve asks her.
“No” she firmly responds.
“Not staying here?” Natasha smiles and pauses.
“I blew all my covers. I got to go figure out a new one” she tells him.
“That might take a while” Steve smiles back.
“I’m counting on it.” Natasha says.
“That thing you asked for. I called in a few favors.” Natasha hands Steve the folder she is holding. I walk over to Natasha, knowing its time to say goodbye; just for now. I give you a long hug, realizing when I’ll see her again is unknown. I pull away and give a sad smile to her. She gives me a small smile back then turns to Steve and gives him a small kiss on the cheek. Natasha then turns to leave, walking away from the team.
“You’re going after him.” Sam says as he walks up behind Steve.
“You don’t have to come with me.” Steve says to Sam. He turns to me and continues, “You don’t either.”
“I know.” Sam replies.
“You can’t get rid of me that easily.” I joke as I give him a small jab with my elbow.
“So.” Sam continues. “When do we start?”
