"We're trapped." D.J. said. "Just until six."
"Mom's gonna kill us!" Poppy said.
Mia looked sad. "I miss Mommy!" she said.
"I know, I know. But only for a little longer." I hugged her.
"I'm hungry." she said.
"Is there anything down here for Mia to eat?" I said as I walked to the shelf full of food, probably free food, because of Mrs. Yermen's coupon obsession.
There was a lot of non-edibles, like shampoo and detergent. I finally found some Doritos, Teddy Grahams, and saltine crackers, the only things Mia liked out of the selection.
"Here." I put them in front of her. "Which one?"
Mia pointed to the Teddy Grahams.
"Ok." I opened the box and let her eat her heart out.
"Anyone want these?" I asked, holding up the chips and crackers.
"Mo! Mo! Moooo!" Bloober came out from under the box he had been in for the past half-hour. He snatched the Doritos and ran to D.J. "Nepo!"
"Ok." D.J. opened the bag. Bloober literally dove in. He pooped out a minute later with three chips in his tiny mouth. Poppy laughed.
"What time?" Alvin asked.
I turned on my iPhone. "Two."
We all groaned.
