It was one of those moments where Megatronus wished he could fly. While he knew how to get back home on foot, flying was a lot faster. Though even if he could fly, there was no way he could outrun a full grown adult.

He didn't know that, of course.

"Come on!" Megatronus growled in frustration as he climbed yet another rock and attempted to take off. Yet again, he dropped like a stone. This was getting him nowhere.

Another roar ripped through the air, making the ground tremble beneath him. They were getting closer. Absolute terror swelled in his heart as he ran away, the thumping of his paws against the ground almost as loud as his pounding heart. He thought of his father and how he just left him like that. He wished he was big enough to fight.

Megatronus was torn from his thoughts when he heard the undergrowth rustling behind him. He pushed himself to go faster, his muscles screaming in agony as he pushed them farther than they had ever gone.

Suddenly, white hot pain flared up as a paw slammed into his side and next thing he knew, he was hurtling through the air. He let loose a shriek of terror as he crashed through the bushes and tumbled down a hill, where a shallow ditch cut across the small clearing. His hind legs slipped over the edge, forcing him to dig his claws into the ground. Slowly, the ground gave way under them and he fell backwards into the ditch with a grunt.

The grey hatchling sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth, wincing as his side throbbed. He was about to climb out when pawsteps thundered nearby. He quickly ducked back down in the ditch, hoping he wouldn't be spotted due to his small size.

His heart began to race as the pawsteps grew closer. He could hear the crunch of the leaves and heavy breathing as the dragons who were chasing him entered the clearing. He stayed completely still despite every instinct screaming at him to run.

Don't move.

One of the dragons paused to sniff the air, their brightly colored head just visible past the edge of the ditch.

"Well?" The other dragon said, their feminine voice coming from somewhere to the left of Megatronus.

"I lost the scent. You think that fall killed the kid?" The first dragon replied, disappointment evident in his voice.

"Hmph, probably." The female snorted. "He looked scrawny. Just like the rest of these outsiders."

"Sentinel won't be happy. Should we look for a body?"

"It isn't worth it. Come on, let's rejoin the others. Next target is their pathetic little camp."

"Copy that."

No!

Megatronus's eyes widened in horror. They were going to attack the camp! He had to warn them!

Once the pawsteps had faded away, Megatronus scrambled out of the ditch and sprinted in the direction of the camp. He didn't care how badly his side hurt, he needed to reach camp in time. His mother would know what to do!

"Mama! Mama!" Megatronus cried as he barged into the camp, nearly toppling over. He immediately ran to his mother once he spotted her, breathing so fast he was practically hyperventilating.
