Little notes

I opened up the front door to my house and walked inside. Nobody was in the kitchen or living room. I figured they went out for a walk or something, so I went to my room. Asia was sitting on my bed.

"Why are you in here?" I asked.

"Because I needed to use your printer. "

"Were you the one who sent me that threat?!" I practically screamed at her.

"What threat?" All though I didn't want to admit it, but Asia really did look confused.

"The one that came out of the printer the other night!" I probably looked like an idiot. I mean I was talking about a crazy threat.

"Courtney, what the hell are you smoking? I thought you were somewhat responsible. What gang are you a part of? Where do you buy your drugs? I need to know all of this when I snitch on you to mom and dad."

"Asia! Shut up! I'm not on drugs. I'm serious."

"That's what they all say. Next thing you know you find them passed out in their meth lab."

"Cut the shit Asia. I'm trying to be serious here for once. Can't you be too?"

"Ugh fine. What is your "problem"?." She did the little quotation movement with her fingers.

"I got a print-out from my computer with a threat." I handed her the paper.

Asia read the paper and started laughing.

"Ok Courtney. I'm sorry but I can't believe how immature this prank is. What do you think? I wasn't born yesterday you know."

There was no way I could get Asia to believe me.

"Whatever! Don't believe me! You can be sorry when something happens to you."

Asia walked out of my room. Sometimes I secretly think that she is supposed to be in my body and I'm supposed to be in hers. I'm so much mature than her, and even mom and dad agree.

As I tried to get Asia's idiocy out of my mind, my thoughts began to drift back to the carving on the table in that basement. I couldn't think of any reasonable explanation to why it is there.

Just as I sat down on my bed I heard my Mom come in the door.

"Hey Court! How was your bike ride?"

"Fine. Where is Dad?"

"I don't know. I thought he was here."

"No. It's just me and Asia. He wasn't with you?"

"No. I went to get a few groceries that I needed. He was here."

"Its weird though. His truck is still here."

"His bike is gone. He probably went for a ride to check out the lake. You know how your father is when it come to the outdoors."

"Yeah I guess."

Mom walked out of my room. Later, after I took my shower, I went into my room and noticed my window had something just under the sill. I picked it up. It was a yellow piece of paper. I opened it and read it to myself.

You learn more about a person each and every day. I have a feeling we will be close friends by the time you figure out my secret.

I closed my eyes and held back the urge to scream. I knew that no one would ever believe me. The thought that I was on my own with no one by my side, made my stomach do a flip. This was going to be hard. In the distance of the house I heard Asia yell to mom.

"Mom! Did you know Courtney does drugs?!"

"I don't think Courtney's the child we have to worry about." Mom responded.

I knew Asia would tell mom that I was going crazy, but Asia and her stupid comments were the least of my worries right now. All I wanted right now was to figure out who was behind all of this, what they wanted, and why they wanted me.
