Ok this is a note from the author, I just realized how to add a new part in the story so read the first part first cause I updated chapter two on there. sorry for the inconvenience. ~Maddie
"I found the body" the note said.
I didn't know what to do. I doubt my parents would believe me. I mean this could be a joke too. Some punk teens probably put this on the window sill.
I decided to put it in a box in my room. Just in case it was important.
Even though i doubted it was, I still had this gut feeling that it meant something.
Even if that something was nothing.
I decided to go outside. there were still parts of the house that I hadn't ventured yet. I walked to the back of the house. A small pile of dirt was laying un-bedded into the ground. Walking to the back an old wooden tool shed laid with the doors open. I walked inside, curious of what might be in there.
Toolbox full of old rusted tools. A saw laying on the ground, and a chainsaw. How pleasant. A couple of nails laid on the small built in wooden counter top. "Geez these people sure left a lot of stuff." I said to myself. It was like they were I'm such a hurry to get out that they took the car, some clothes, and themselves and up and left.
A bunch of trees outlined our yard, separating it from the neighbor's. I went back into the house, but as I walked around the house I noticed a blue cop car in the driveway. Surprised I ran into the house. Panting, I said, "what's going on? Why is there a cop car in the driveway?!" My mom, Dad, and a police officer turned around to face me.
"I prefer the term police car. Not cop." He spat at me. What an ass.
"Courtney would you please go wait in your room, with Asia."
"But what's going on?!"
"Not now Courtney!" My Dad scowled.
I ran to my room. Asia was sitting on my bed texting.
"Asia, what's going on?"
"I dunno, must have questions about the payments."
"Why would cops have to come for that?"
"I don't know, and I really don't care. They just stormed into my house like they owned it!" Asia said getting really mad now.
"Umm Asia. Maybe that's because they still own the house. We haven't actually payed for it yet."
"That's the government dumbass."
"Oh." I said quietly
"So why can't we be in there?"
"God, are you righting a book?!" She screeched.
Actually, I am. But I wasn't going to dare say that to her.
Clearly she wasn't to worried about this, because she was texting away, barely even looking up, just when she wanted to yell at me.
Just then my parents came walking in to my room.
"Girls, can you please come here now."
Asia and I followed them into the kitchen. The police motioned for us to take a seat. Gosh I felt like I wasn't even in my own home, with him bossing me around.
"Ok. I just want to inform you all about the recent events in this home." The police officer said.
"The past family who lived here, we're going through some very difficult things. About 1 year before they moved out, both of their daughters went missing. There is no trace to where they went and we are still under the investigation of how they went missing or were murdered."
"Murdered?" I said in a scared tone.
"We don't know for sure," the officer continued, which I noticed his name tag said officer Kevin Mota.
"That's why our investigation is still going on. We just want you to report anything odd or strange that pops up around here. Ok?" He asked.
"Sure." My sister and I both said.
"Do you know anything yet?" I asked wanting more information.
"Not to much, mainly just the basics. Like what time they disappeared. But we honestly don't know where they went too."
"So why would the parents move if the investigation wasn't finished?" I continued.
"Well as any disappearance would go, media gets word and then they think they are part of the investigation and start asking all sorts of questions and getting up in people's faces. I assume they just wanted a break from all of the attention. Plus it's kind of hard to stare at the walls of a house where you're children grew up but now don't even live there anymore. Especially when you don't know where they are."
"True." I finished.
"So who should we let know about anything we see or find?" Asia questioned.
"Well of course tell your parents first, then call the police department, and if it's somethin bad, then call me directly." Officer Kevin said.
"Well thank you for informing us about this officer." My father said.
Just then I remembered the note I found this morning in the bathroom. "Should I tell them?" I thought. Nah after the way that Kevin dude treated me, he can wait until I know for sure it's evidence.
As my parents led the cop out the door, I walked to my room. Something was laying on my bed. It was a note. It read "you can keep my secret, and I'll tell you where they went."
What the heck! How did this get here. Nobody could have been in here to write it. Could they?
