From then on, Addison felt more like she was at a welcome party. The pups had returned, and each of them wanted to tell her about their "adventures" in the forest. Addison listened intently, careful to react at the right time. She kept a small smile on her lips, happy to see that despite the situation, they knew how to keep a childish spirit.
The teens sulked a little about not having their little human's attention, but they smiled at the energy that the little ones had. Willa had folded her arms, leaned against the cave wall, and looked at her little family. It had been a long, long time since they had been just young wolves of their age, and she loved seeing the smiles Addison put on the lips of her pack members.
"Oh ! Can we do your hair, Addy?" finally asked little Wayla, clapping her hands.
"Yes ! A special wolf hairstyle!" cried little Wyl, falling into the arms of the crouching teenager in front of them.
He wrapped his hands around her neck, and Addison smiled as she held him to her. How could she say no when these darlings all had huge smiles on their faces?
"I leave my hair at your disposal."
She winked at them, and the pups screamed in joy before running down one of the hallways. She saw Willa stand up from the wall she was perched against and walk towards her.
"Thanks Addison. You don't know how long this den hadn't heard such loud, pure laughter."
Addison got up from her squatting position she'd adopted earlier to chat with the little ones, and gave her a small smile as she put a hand on her shoulder.
"We'll find the Moonstone, Willa. I can promise you that."
The Alpha smiled back at her before shifting a bit when the pups came running back, carrying a stool, hairbands and a few brushes in their tiny hands. Addison didn't even have time to move as she found herself on the stool, little hands already in her hair.
She chatted with Wyver and Willy, the two cooks in the den, about the different ways to prepare meats, and out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Wynter and Wyatt approach Willa, whispering something in her ear. It was too low for her to hear anything, even with her very good hearing, and anyway, she didn't want to spy on the conversation, so she continued chatting with the wolves around her, letting the pups do their magic.
She saw Willa nod her head anyway, and Wynter rushed down the back hall.
"Here !"
"It's finished !"
Addison smiled at the excitement of the young wolves, and turned to them. "So ? How am I ?" she asked, gently running a hand through the braids she could feel.
"Very pretty !"
"Looks like a wolf!"
"You just need the fangs and the claws!"
Addison chuckled at the energy of the pups.
"They are not wrong, you really look like a wolf," wonders Wyatt next to her.
Addison jumped. She hadn't heard him come near her, but she smiled at him when he looked down at her to give her that happy, relaxed little smile that she loves.
"All that's missing is the clothes," he finished, shifting to show Wynter who beckoned her over.
Addison frowned, got up from her stool, and walked over to the young wolf. She took her hand and pulled her towards the hallway where she had disappeared earlier.
"Where are we going ?" she asked, looking around.
She marveled at the runes that dotted the gray stones. She touched one of them with her finger and let out a little cry as she saw the stone shine a little brighter. Another light caught her attention from her t-shirt. She smiles before continuing to follow Wynter into the depths of the den.
