I throw the car in park on the street out side of the tall house, well mansion really, known as Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. Your little sister is nearly jumping out of her seat with excitement, she'd been begging for weeks for you to take her to adopt an imaginary friend. Even after you had suggested that she simply create one herself, but no. Ever the humanitarian (Y/S/N) insisted that she needed to adopt one since there are so many without homes already. And since I could hardly argue with the girl for wanting to do a good deed you had agreed to take her.
Before I had time to fully unbuckle (Y/S/N) was already out of the car and opening my door and trying to pull me out, "C'mon (Y/N)! C'mon!"
Sighing I grab the small backpack that I use as a purse from the passenger seat and get out of the car, "I'm coming, you don't need to pull on me." I scold her gently even as she continues to pull on the hem of my long sleeve black shirt.
"But you're moving so slooooooooow," Even as (Y/S/N) dramatically drags out the 'o' she's still tugging me towards the gates of the impossibly tall house in front of us.
"I am not. Now slow down and walk like a normal person," I smile and slightly ruffle her hair so that she'd have to stop for a second and fix it.
"Heeeeeeeeyyyyyyy!" She wined and, just as I planned, paused to straighten out the few hairs that had fallen out of place. "That was rude," She glared at me as I started to laugh.
"Calm down, you're fine. Now, let's walk up and knock on the door. Okay?"
Sighing heavily (Y/S/N) rolls her eyes but smiles, "Okay... Let's go!" Just as excited, but admittedly slower, she starts towards the door again.
Together we take the last step up the walk and just as I'm raising a hand to knock on the heavy, dark oak door I look down at (Y/S/N) and smile, "Did you wanna do it?"
Gasping excitedly she looks up at me with wide eyes, "Really? Can I?"
Trying to suppress a chuckle I wave a hand towards the door, "Sure, I don't see why not."
Facing forward she takes a deep breath and brings her knuckles down on the wood in front of her. There's a slight pause before a faint 'I'll be right there' can be heard through the thick doors, followed by many muffled thumping sounds. And just before the waiting can broach awkward the door swings open to reveal a teenage boy with shaggy brown hair. "Hi guys! What can we do for you?" Slightly out of breath, probably from descending the many stairs behind him, he takes a second before showing off a dazzling smile.
Before I had the chance to introduce myself and (Y/S/N) she steps forward, "I want to adopt an imaginary friend!"
I can feel my cheeks warm slightly, a bit embarrassed at (Y/S/N)'s lack of manners but before I had the chance to scold her a throaty chuckle falls from the lips of the boy standing in front of us. Smiling he leans over a bit and addresses (Y/S/N) directly, "Well lucky for you we have plenty of those to choose from."
Gasping excitedly (Y/S/N) bounces a little, "Really!? You mean it!?"
I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm and neither could the guy standing in front of you, "Well, of course-"
"Maaaaaaaaac! What are you doing!?" Interrupted a voice from behind him.
With a visible sigh the boy, who must be Mac, rolled his eyes and welcomed us inside with a faintly annoyed smile. Inside the foyer we meet a small blue blob of sorts. Mac motions to the imaginary friend, "This is my imaginary friend Bloo. Bloo these are..."
The sentence trails off as Mac realizes he doesn't know your names. Smiling I place a hand on my little sister's back, "This is (Y/S/N), and I'm (Y/N)."
Mac reaches out a hand and you gladly accept it, "It's nice to meet you both, and if you couldn't guess, I'm Mac."
Smiling you let out a light laugh, "Well Mac it's nice to meet you." A second passes and someone clears their throat, rather loudly. Looking down from Mac's eyes you see Bloo looking up at you with his arms crossed and so you turn to him, "And it's very nice to meet you too Bloo."
Before you could turn back to Mac, Bloo uncrosses his arms and puts them on what you guess are his hips and gives you a big, bright smile, "Well of course it is. I am after all the bestest imaginary friend EVER."
(Y/S/N) steps right in front of Bloo with wide eyes, "Are you really?"
"Well YEAH!" Bloo seems almost offended that the young girl would dare to ask such a silly question. "Just ask Mac here, he created me."
Gasping loudly (Y/S/N) looks up at Mac in amazement, "Did you really?" He nods, though his cheeks seem to be tinting a bit pink. A large smile spreads on (Y/S/N)'s face, "That's so COOL!"
Bloo begins jumping up and down while pulling on the bottom of Mac's red shirt, "See Mac! I told you everyone thinks I'm cool!"
The small chuckle that escapes your lips was quickly joined by a laugh from Mac, "Well Boo," he says as his laugh dies down, "Why don't you take (Y/S/N) to pick out an imaginary friend?"
"Sure Mac, I mean I am the best person for the job. C'mon (Y/S/N) let's go." Bloo grabs the young girl's hand and leads her away babbling about all the awesome things that he and Mac had done over the years.
Watching them go you turn back to Mac, "That's quite an imaginary friend you have there."
Scratching the back of his head Mac looks slightly embarrassed, " Yeah he's something alright..." Smiling he sweeps a hand to the grand house before you, "Would you like a tour?"
"Sure why not," You agree giving a slight shrug, "She's probably going to be a while."
Laughing Mac gently rests his hand on the small of your back, "Stick close, if you're not careful this place is like a maze."
Blushing a bit you smile up at him, "Well then, lead the way."
