Aly let out a piercing scream as Alec fell, unconscious already, clutching his hand tight and running to his side. She vaguely registered that Evelyn was pressing her hands to his head, which surprisingly wasn't bleeding too much; the bullet was staunching the flow of blood. She was also aware that Draco had pried the gun from the man's fingers, the vampire still stronger than the human, and knocked the man's head against the concrete so hard Aly wasn't sure if he was unconscious or dead.
She didn't care.
She didn't care, he could burn, he should die from what he had done.
Suddenly Wenny was there, pushing aside Evelyn's hands and working with nimble fingers as she assessed the damage done. She let out a small breath from her nose and sat back on her heels, and Aly willed her hand not to shake in Alec's still-warm one. A strand of dyed purple hair--although who knew if it was dyed, actually, maybe vampires did have crazy colored hair--fell in Wenny's face as she looked at Aly, apologetic. "We can't do anything to assuage it."
Wenny did not say he's going to die, but Aly heard it clear as day. Her hands did start shaking then. "What do you mean?" she cried. "You're--you're vampires, for fuck's sake, do something! Anything!"
"We can't," said a low voice in Aly's ear, a soothing wave refreshing her and hands coming to stop on her shoulders; but she shook Allen off fiercely.
"I don't care! Try! Call the fucking hospital if you're too useless!"
Evelyn took Aly's other hand in hers. "Aly, the hospital won't do anything."
Aly glared at Evelyn, furious, white hot anger and exhaustion coursing through her veins. "I don't want to--sit here while my brother is dying and not DO ANYTHING!" Her voice rose to a panicked yell, higher pitched than she thought she'd ever gone, and desperately looked to the bar at the front.
"There's a barrier here, no one can see us," Draco explained.
"Actually, we can do something." Wenny said suddenly, very quietly. Aly turned her head, staring with wide eyes and willing Wenny to go on. "We can turn him into a vampire."
Her mouth went dry.
"He'll live?"
"As a vampire," Wenny confirmed. "But he'll have to adjust to a completely new life, and he may resent you for doing it without your permission. He'll also be dragged into...whatever this is." She gestured to the unconscious man nearby. "He may think living as a vampire is worse than dying."
Her tongue felt heavy and impossibly parched, and this was an impossible decision; how could she choose, what were they asking of her?, but eventually, after countless circles in her head that were processed in only a few seconds, "Do it."
"Are you sure about this?" Draco asked quietly. "Lunar could do it wrong and kill him."
She shook her head. "Do it," Aly said again, this time more firmly. So her real name is Lunar, then?
Wenny--or Lunar--looked unsure, but heeding Aly's wish, she let her fangs slide out from her gums all the way, and her eyes if possible turned even more red, almost black. She reached out and touched a finger to Draco's head, a black sphere floating above his forehead. His eyelids closed and a soft noise came out of his mouth; "It's so he doesn't get crazy with the bloodlust--only my older sister and I can do Trances, since we have Love and Shadow elementals, and it's usually not as easy as this if they don't want to be put into a Trance." she explained. "So, I'm going to insert some of my creation venom in Alec, but it depends if his body is strong enough to deal with it and if I don't get carried away."
