Coincidental Mishap

Hisashi Midoriya had an insufferable childhood with an even more insufferable father. He was possessive and allowed him and his younger brother no freedom of their own; trying to control everything about their lives. This is why Hisashi vowed to never repeat his father's overbearing nature, especially with his own son.

He preferred to give Izuku his space to figure things out on his own and have the freedom to live how he wanted, something Hisashi himself would have killed for at that age, and did. So he decided early on that he wanted his son to chose his own life. To have a better one than Hisashi had experienced. Was that so hard for others to believe?

For some reason people believed him to be possessive and capable of kidnapping his own son, which was preposterous! He trusted Inko and her protectiveness to keep their son safe. He had left in hopes that he wouldn't drag his family into the dark path he had chosen long ago, and could no longer give up on his business entanglements entirely. So he decided to leave, to have his family live better off without him.

He cared deeply about them so that's why he had to leave. He would sometimes keep tabs on his adorable son and doting wife every once and while, but stopped shortly after to keep  their connection secret in order to protect the family he left. Opting to focus solely on his work, as villainous empires took a lot of time and resources to maintain. Something no one ever thought about.

So imagine Hisashi surprise, when his son fell right into his outstretched hands as he was walking from the hospital that one of his associates and long time followers owned.

Hisashi yelped with a start, clearly surprised at the teen that had fallen into his arms.

The boy looked stunned, as if he expected to be a stain on the sidewalk and not still breathing in the older man's arms.

It had been awhile since he had seen his son, but his messy green curls and adorable freckles across his chubby cheeks were unmistakable.

Parents seemed to always be able to recognize their children, no matter what happened or the amount of time pasted.

Hisashi, the first to recover, asked the boy, "Are you alright?"

The man's voice seemed to bring Izuku out of his trance as he regained his senses and hopped out of the man's arms.

"I-I'm sorry sir, I wasn't watching where I was going and I fell..." The boy rushed out quickly apologizing.

Something was wrong though. He didn't recognize him.  Granted Hisashi doesn't just walk around the streets with this mangled potato face without  a disguise, but the boy didn't seem to recall All for One's voice either, even though he had heard the villain talk in his most recent fight with All Might.

He looked this time deeper into his son's eyes, as he used one of his many quirks to read the boy's thoughts.

I can't remember anything! If I didn't even know my name how will I be able to get back in the hospital before the nurses notice I'm gone! I could have died if this stranger hadn't just saved me. Am I always this reckless?

Izuku's thoughts flooded the ancient villain's mind as concern swirled in his stomach.

His son had lost his memory?

That was the last thing Hisashi thought before Kurogiri's scheduled portal opened up beneath him and his son's feet, enveloping them both.

That's how he ended up being accused of kidnapping his own son. The nerve of these biased news outlets nowadays!

And how his son reentered Hisashi life once more. He was going to have one hell of a talk with his mother after this, but also with the school responsible for his son's condition.
