Huge is an understatement, no it's enormous, but then that's not the right word either. Something like this extraordinary house cannot be defined, but that's just what it is. Extraordinary. But as I look at the house next door, and the one further along, and the one next to that, I realize that this house really can't be described, because here it's classed as normal amongst the other beach front houses. As I walk through the front gate of the house painted pink, blue and yellow, I become shadowed by the spiralling staircase and belittled by a mini statue of liberty. I chuckle and shake my head at how extreme this is. Dropping my two big suitcases, I rest my clenched hand on the lime green door. Should I do this? I could run away or swim to an island someplace safe or become a companion of one of the many vagrants that wander around, or I could balls up and knock on this god damned door and show that i'm not scared. Option last comes first as a knock a little to loud. No one comes. So I knock again, but on the second knock the door opens and a girl about 2 heads shorter than me is smiling bright and before I can say hello i'm knocked out of breath as she squeezed me tight.
"Welcome, hello!" she says while letting go, she tries to pick up my bags but they don't budge, so she just smiles at me again and drags me into the house, and as I stumble into the room I really gasp. A huge open planned area is what i'm gasping at, it's filled with a marble stone kitchen and big velvet couches accompanied by a large flat screen t.v and a Foosball table.
When my mum, wait that's not right, when my MOM told me she had applied for me to go to Santa High, I was confused. Santa High? What is that? Forever Christmas at school? Since I had no idea what she was talking about, I just smiled my not so real smile and placed a hand on her shoulder,
"Mum, I so glad that you are concerned about my schooling, but i'm happy, no need for me to change schools," but she just laughed and mocked me by placing her delicate hand on my shoulder, and I chuckled, "okay, mum?"
"Dolly, this isn't just any school," she peeled of and walked out of the room, leaving me even more confused, but she came back fast with a leaflet shoved in my face, "Santa High, Santa Monica," she said to me proudly. The flyer showed a group of boys and girls showing off their all American bright white teeth and fancy uniform. Santa High Academy, Home of the Gifted and Talented It read, and that's when I really laughed because 'Gifted and Talented' was something I definitely wasn't.
But here I am now standing in the dorm house, with around 20 other girls coming around and hugging me, i'm thrown from person to person, they pull at my hair and compliment me on my figure and introduce themselves . I smile and nod because that's what i've been told to do when you have nothing to say or have no time to say something. They show no signs of stopping, but thankfully the chaos is broken by a large horn blown.
"Alright Ladies, that's enough!" A large woman around thirty stands above us, "room inspection in ten minutes lets go lets go lets go!" and all the girls run up in a stampede up the stairs. The woman lets out a tired sigh.
"Welcome, Tamara," She said as if she couldn't care less, "to the Lola house of Santa High Academy."
Sorry this chapter is very short, it won't always be this way!
